>see picture of a guy wearing makeup and a dress with a stuffed bra
>nothing effeminate here bro
you tried to be ebin by subtly implying that you could never possibly think of a man in a womanly way, which would be commendable if not for you being a pseud and failing to realize "effeminate" literally means a man acting in a way common for a woman that is inherently inappropriate. at best, you are a retarded straight guy, but based on the content of your post, my diagnosis is that you are a retarded fag.

and that's why "effeminate" implies a man behaving in a womanly way that isn't socially appropriate. you're conflating "effeminate" and "feminine". please learn to read bro.

Yeah, in general people have a very distorted view of history, and fashion is no exception.
I was reading a 13th century document about city laws in Florence regarding public decency: basically the husbands of wealthy women were complaining that dresses with very deep cleavages (down to the belly button) were in fashion, so they felt the need to do something about it.
They passed a law that forced dresses to "have fabric that covered the abdomen up to neck-lenght".
Of course women started using the exact same dresses but they sewed transparent silk over the holes so that it technically had fabric of the legal lenght.
Or in 17th century Venice laws had to be made about a particular kind of shoe that became exceedingly popular among men because they started making them bigger and bigger with more elaborated decorations.

The will to flaunt anything to say "I am better than you" is inherent in any society in both men and women.

its actually pretty much dead on for what shipped in the final game: he just ended up being a really gay looking space wizard
meanwhile, "femboy" actually isnt even gay enough to accurately describe what he was originally supposed to be. he was literally supposed to be a magic space tranny. his gender would change according to how you, as alis, played the game and made decisions during the story

go look it up, its pretty well documented
naka and the boys were like, "no, thats fucking weird, go take a bath". and presumably, she did, because hes just a dude wearing gay clothes in the US ver

yea its so awesome i love that game
i really wish the first-person dungeon crawl became the "normal" for jarpigs. instead of the overhead, see-through-walls shtick, that usually just results in boring 2D mazes with dead-ends you can literally see coming.
PS you can actually get lost in, or even trapped in, the dungeons if you keep forgetting where the false floors are. gives it a flair/thrill you only got from western CRPGs at the time. actually threatening dungeon crawls

Peasant women did the exact same shit rich women did on a smaller scale with less resources
They showed off and had internal fashion trends relative to their small villages
You don't need to be a rich noblewoman to remove some fabric from the breast area of your holiday clothes and add extra material around the shoulders to make the other women at the Spring Festival seethe
Also the statement

I seem to recall that one of the phantasy star devs was also genuinely simping for nei and wanted them to be in games after psII as well, to the point where Rika/Fal was supposed to just be Nei originally. Cloud looks very effeminate now with all side content but he looks great in FFVII proper and official at the time art.
Vandal Hearts 2 has a realistic and gritty artstyle so the protag looks like a man.
Vandal Hearts protag Ash also looks manly.
Claude Kenni from Star Ocean 2 is a kid but has an air of "will grow to be Chad".
Hector from Fire Emblem gba looks very manly. Ephraim from the sequel isnt that far off.
Dragon Quest V protag is a manly mage who survived years as a slave.
SMT nocturne protag looks scrawny but his Demi Fiend form is edge kino.
