N64 turns 30 next year. Do you think Nintendo finally releases the N64 Classic to celebrate this anniversary?

No, because N64 emulation is shit. They would have to put a relatively expensive soc into it to get decent performance. They would probably need to charge 300-400 for it. There are plenty of idiots out there who would buy it though.

>I think the mini console craze is over.
More like they just ran out of usable consoles, it's a mine that can only be dug so deep and they started getting into stuff that very few people gave a fuck about like British Microcomputers. N64, Saturn, Dreamcast and Neo Geo AES are the only viable ones left with N64 and Dreamcast being the most popular options. If an N64 Mini with 20 games came out for around $99 to 129ish dollars, I'd think they'd sell like hotcakes, but as you said, they are too worried about their overpriced NSO subs.

All of this. N64 emulation is poor, look at videos of how terrible it was when it first came out on the Switch, there were inaccuracies and bugs galore. I don't think it would take an expensive SoC and they do have some development on N64 emulation now, but it would still likely be poor quality compared to the NES and SNES, and on top of that..

They both would rather you buy a Switch/Switch2 and NSO+ subscription, there's far more money in it for them than selling you a system you only have to pay for once and has a few dozen games pre-loaded on it. The mini-console craze is also over, there have been a few other mini-consoles released since, and nobody gave a damn, nobody cared about the mini-PS1 console even when it came out during the craze.

No because the console isn't look fondly like the NES/SNES and Nintendo can't even program a decent emulator in 2025 for their online pay service. Plus N64 is one of the consoles that most needs a CRT to shine, but then you remember the abysmal framerate performance for most of the catalog.

A lot of these people now in their 40s resort to content mill videos of them in front of a camera for 10 minutes rambling about something and providing no unique takes or point of view.
They know they're cooked since they started 20 years ago and gained no real world skills in the meantime. So they game the algorithm as a last ditch effort of taking the easy life and it ends up working.
They don't put effort into making games or promoting ones that they dont believe are affected by a political agenda. Just no substance whining at what AAA is doing. Many channels did this with Assassins Creed. Daily videos for six months straight without any solutions, or anything to say. (To be clear I also disagreed with the game approach, so I simply didn't buy it, ignored it and played something else).
Im convinced that people will watch anything the algorithm tells them to.

People like Smash JT, who churn out as much crap as possible and baits drama only to convince his audience that he's the victim being attacked so he can milk it for views and money.
I know hes in a lawsuit and whatever her name is, and shes an idiot for initializing it (since shes gonna lose) and targeting his family. Now he gives frequent updates on the "drama" or whatever comes out of her dumb mouth instead of talking about games he likes.
Its one of the most corporate channels gaming the algorithm and manipulating people I've ever seen in the "retro gaming" scene. But he can live off it so there's no reason for him to have any sort of morality in his character.
Another one I forget his name, but is best buddies with Boogie even knowing all the horrible things hes done, including lying about cancer for money. But he covered whatever drama he was in for, of course, views and month.

I got the SNES mini, mainly for being able to buy a brand new retro console again, it was more about the I can't believe I can a real in box SNES for one last time. All these systems are pretty much junk if you care about the gameplay. From blurry filters to only 720p output. You can use the controllers on the wii which is cool.

I honestly think it would be a good idea. The audience for this isn't people who have Switches and plunk down money for the NSO or people who have Raspberry Pis or emulate or whatever.
t's for normie lapsed gamers. The audience is a guy who hasn't played a video game since 2000 and sees this and think "OH SHIT DOES IT HAVE GOLDENEYE AND MARIO KART?". Then they pay 100 bucks for it, play Goldeneye for an evening then put it in the closet. They should put it on endcaps at Menards and shit.

The only way they would catch my attention with one, is if it included the entire, or at least most, of the 64DD library, and had something unreleased like StarFox 2 show up. The Mother 3 demo or whatever they did for Mario 64 2, hell maybe a back-port of OoT Master Quest as UraZelda. Maybe a special edition of Smash Bros with a couple new characters like Banjo.

And everyone who'd buy this already plays said N64 games. They want the novelty model of the console that plugs into their TV, just like they want posters on the wall, figurines on the shelf or whatever. I'll never get people who get annoyed that strangers like to collect useless novelty knickknacks.

Both the NES and SNES classics came out before Nintendo's big resurgence with the switch. If I were to guess, they probably wanted to test the market and see how they could market retro games in the event they pulled out of the console market, but that's just schizoposting on my end. My point is that there isn't a reason for them to do something like that because they can just unload games on the switch and switch 2.

N64 Mini would be SHIT for these reasons:

1. No M-Rated games.

2. No Rare games.

3. No licensed games.

This memes no wrestling, no shooters, no sports, no Banjo, and obviously they're not going to include anything obscure. So what are you left with? Mario 64, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Zelda, F-Zero, Star Fox, Wave Race, Cruis'n, Pokemon, Smash, and that's about fucking it. That's just not enough.

I hope not because it doesn't make sense. NSO makes sense, the customer gets something, Nintendo gets something. A mini console is just like a prop. As has been pointed out the N64 emulation is dogshit and will remain that way, now hold on isn't NSO emulation - yes but they can focus all their efforts on getting that right, they have reasonably good hardware while a mini-console would be expected to be sold at a knock-down price, and the controller alone is also going to be a lot more expensive to manufacture than a NES/SNES one. A lot of (clueless) people might be pissed off that emulation was worse on their mini-console and think they got a bad deal from it. It doesn't make sense for Nintendo to sell nostalgia like some sort of drug dealer and knowing their customers are getting a bad deal.

Goldeneye, Blast Corps and Turok 1+2 are already on the Switch's N64 service and have been for years.
>Irrelevant games. Wouldn't be included
Including extremely irrelevant games from "literal who" developers has been the main thrust of the NSO service since it first launched. The sheer amount of absolute dogshit NES, SNES and Game Boy games on there is pretty astounding. The N64 service has stuff like Win Back and Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls on there, so saying Mega Man and Snowboard Kids are too irrelevant is laughable.

Doesn't matter because they're not going to make a N64 Mini anyway. The fad is long over and as far as Nintendo is concerned, the NSO emulation service and their expensive clone controllers have taken its place.

I used to think Nintendo wouldn't put GameCube games onto the NSO because they're already making a shitload of money doing lazy HD ports from that generation and charging $60 for it. Then they announced GC games on the Switch 2 and the tendies lost their minds with happiness lol.

The original GC Wind Waker is on there and I guarantee Nintendo will bring the Wii U version over at some point and the old version being available for cheaper will absolutely not effect the sales whatsoever. Tendies really will just buy anything.

The units would sell out, no question. The very fact that the other minis are basically collector's items is good enough to get them to sell. Also, they'd be tacking on the sale of four controllers for every unit if they put enough party games on there. That alone is like par the course for theur business model since forever ago and the extra controllers are naturally going to promote NSO. Besides, the minis don't compete with consoles. They're something you hook up to a TV in a spare bedroom. They look cute and are the perfect gift. Consumers don't care about purchasing redundancy anyway. You're going to need to elaborate on why no Rare games and no licensed games. M-rating has nothing to do with sell-ability. People like to shit on the N64 library, but there are plenty of awesome games.

Anon. The minis fall right in line with Nintendo's business model (sell the same thing to a consumer multiple times; games, controllers, etc.) and the controllers purchased for the mini would promote NSO. All of a sudden all these people have fucken four N64 controllers and they work with the Switch, so why not? It was never a fad. It was just another way to make money and guess what. They sold the fuck out.

Thinking about this if they were smart they’d have a different n64 controller for minis so they can sell rumble paks and memory cards because authenticity! Add in an NSO sub for the mini that oh no doesn’t connect w ur NSO on switch and bam u have a ton and i mean a ton of money on the table. Icing on the cake would be to make it able to boot up actual carts then my idea of them doing the Disney vault thing and releasing n64 games in limited quantity would all sell out. Most people wouldn’t open them and just play online using the box and game for views on TIK TOK

>without tangible connections
Do you feel your cord up, bro? Your controller is your "tangible connection", not your cord. Besides my post came out spaghetti. I much prefer corded and if it's wireless it's got to be batteries.

>Goldeneye, Blast Corps and Turok 1+2 are already on the Switch's N64 service and have been for years.

This is not the same thing. The M rating alone prevents Turok from being on a mini console and licensing would be a NIGHTMARE for their inclusion on an actual permanent physical product. You're just proving that you don't know anything about the subject.

They could very easily strongarm their way into giving the whole package a Teen rating. Just leave out Turok 2 and remove the blood from Turok 1. Simple. Boy do you sound assmad.

I never watch a YouTube video if it has a thumbnail of someone’s face.
I don’t care about personalities. If the video has one of these then the focus is on them rather than the content.
I also don’t care if Nintendo release another mini-console emulator to try and drum up more money for ROMS that can emulated another way.

NTA, but if Sega could get the rights to throw some Disney stuff on their mini consoles(and some anime based stuff in japan), im sure Nintendo could get Turok if they really wanted to.
