playing this for the first time, should I use the guidebook for the heart pieces or just play the game blind on my own?

you dont need the heart pieces so no point in spoiling their locations, just play through the game normally
Anonymous No.11888465 [Report]
Play blind. It's better. Use guidebook later if you decide to become autistic about completionism or if you get stuck.

I beat it when I was 12 completely on my own. don't be a loser, don't look up tips for a game that's designed for kids.
Anonymous No.11888591 [Report]
The only reason to use a guide is if you want the big goron sword.
Just play it normally, good games should be experienced the first time instead of following a list of tasks from a guide.

The biggest flaw in this game by far is that it's too easy. Don't cheat and make it worse, unless you happen to get stuck really really badly somehow.

Oh wait I stupidly said that thinking this was Link to the Past because I didn't look at the box carefully. Haha, well, my comment still applies pretty well, so I stand by it.

It's an adventure game designed for kids in mind. You don't need a guide (hopefully).

the game's not really hard enough to warrant that, but i understand the 100% autism. so i recommend looking for as many as you can find naturally but not looking at a guide until after beating the game, then you can go back and get them all.

play it blind, you don't need all heart pieces to beat this easy ass game. adventure is the true reward.

Why would you even consider ruining your game with a guide before you've even played it?

Because OP is somehow both underage and yet incapable of appreciating whimsy and mystery. In other words, he's the usual quadracial zoomer infecting this board. I'd almost think it was just a shitpost, but he really nailed the clueless checklist-oriented mindset of today's retarded children.

As if no child has ever done this before zoomers. God forbid I want to get the most out of the game and don’t want to wander around for an hour trying to figure out what the fuck to do.

We used to just call that playing the game.

Wandering around figuring shit out to do is literally the entire appeal of adventure. And if you don't find literally everything, well, you don't even HAVE to.
It's at that point, you enable your inner completionist addicted to checklists, and check out the guides. Let your brain do the thinking on the first go.

Game guides existed in the 90s for a reason, dumbass.

Zelda games are not fun to 100%, and they're so piss easy that even with just the hearts you get from bosses, you'll never die.
Anonymous No.11889610 [Report]
i'm finna bust a knut on the next fool who follows a guide to beat a zelda game to 100% completion, instead of enjoying the time-wasting activity of playing video games

Do you skip all dialogue boxes then complain about the game not telling you where to go like a retard?
The game constantly tells you where to go and IIRC it even tells you on the map screen
>>11889195
In the case of OoT the only reasonable use of the guide is for 100%ing the game. Anyone who can't finish the main quest without a guide is probably clinically retarded. It's an easy game
Anonymous No.11889860 [Report]
Only thing hidden in that game is the spiders and you don't need to get them all.

You don't need the heart pieces, the game is easy enough and some are fucking chores to get.

Every secret is revealed in game if you can complete one questline. Hint: it rhymes with cask.

always use a guide for Zelda games

i can understand wanting to reference a guide at some point for the NES games/LTTP/MM, but OOT is so hand-holdy that you won't need it. if you want all the heart pieces, just look them up online after you beat the game.

I've always used guides for games, I feel like I'm missing out if I don't, or I'm not doing things right. How do you usually play games? If you usually use guides, then use one for this one. Seeing as how you're asking if you should use one, that's telling me you should, because you like having a third party give you the answers.

i smoked weed and got into majora's mask and felt like i was link, lost in a town, and had to figure out everything for myself just like he would
only true adventurefags can replicate this feeling without the need of a Drug, like they can tap into a superpower where they can erase their brain and become the mc and explore a new land
reading guides and watching guideline videos will never cut it for me unless i've already shot my load into the ring and determined my wad was not nearly heavy enough to comprehend the true necessary weight of achieving 100%

You don't need the guide for this. Except maybe for biggoron's sword.

Question: why use a guide versus playing naturally?
If a guide is all but required, to beat it, it's a bad game.
If you love the game and want to 100%, try to do what you can to do everything on your own before you use a guide
Missable stuff? If you truly love the game and care, playing through it a second time (or third or fourth) won't be a big deal. Your knowledge and experience from previous runs will help you capitalize on future runs (I'm taking advantage of new found knowledge, thieving, in a RPG that I've beaten at least six times, for example)

Zoomers have crippling, practically terminal FOMO. It's one of their greatest possible fears. Even the THOUGHT that they COULD have missed something sends them into a panic attack.

The funny thing is they'd never find all the "secrets". Even OoT anon is still finding new ones to this day by parsing through game data and experimentation.
