I'm that Anon who got a RP4P for $50. Turns out it was priced that way cause of a faulty right joystick but a $5 replacement is on the way. Still seems rather worth it. Anyway, this is my first time using an Android handheld console. Is there an app or something that'll automatically incorporate the bezel project, or will I have to manually apply it for each game? Also, I realize 4:3 integer scaled games look rather tiny on this screen, would it be better to just turn it off and apply some fancy shader? I assume this thing has the juice to run some high end shaders compared to one of those RK3326 systems.

its not like the chinese dudes making these things couldn't order some bigger 4:3 screens, they're already doing loads of custom orders for all the other displays they're putting in other handhelds.

also the difference in content size is pretty minor unless we're talking like a 6" or bigger 16:9, the rg406h (4" 4:3) has almost same real size as 4:3 stuff on a 5.5" 16:9 rp5 picrel

It runs and is designed like it is from 2012. It's objectively not good but it's endearing sorta. Like an ironic piece. Looking for a budget horizontal. I'm torn between the Trimui Smart Pro and the MagicX Mini Zero 28. How is the screen on the MagicX? Big reason I'm considering the TSP is I have a Brick as my vertical option and it has probably the best non-OLED screen, but the aspect ratio is kind of dumb since it only does up to PSX reliably and just makes it larger than it needs to be, which is why I started considering the MagicX. Anything else to consider?

Now OLED is the new premium option, and it indeed has better "blacks", but IPS screens are still serviceable in 2025 in my opinion.

When you get the adapter make sure you do not go past 128 GB. 128 GB can have minor loading increases in certain games (I don't even know which, it was just constantly mentioned when I was searching this myself) and the initial boot gets like 1-2 seconds longer because of it. 64 GB is the sweet spot.

Once you actually have the MicroSDs in there and formatted you can never remove them or it corrupts the entire card so fair warning. You have to format the thing or pull the important stuff off if you plan on repurposing them before you physically remove them.

So after kicking screaming bitching crying and spamming thread after thread after thread after thread for 16 hours per day, about how much pink arm faggot hates the dot shader and we should use the grid shader instead, i tried out both.

On a small screen they were designed for, You can hardly tell the fucking difference. This confirms once and for all that this turbo faggot is bitching about how it looks on his desktop monitor, because he doesn't play video games. On an 4" or less screen, dot and grid are very close with dot looking slightly better since it rounds the edges.

Enjoying my RG34XXSP via muOS, my first Anbernic (had the Smart Pro and Mini Plus before).
Wish it had more shaders though the odd resolution likely means there won't be many made for it, it's fine as is though. Screen is definitely too small for some older ScummVM games though (The 7th Guest was extremely difficult to make out for some puzzles) so I'd recommend the RG35XXSP instead in some instances.

yeah, better at giving you the wrong voltage and frying your device.
with barrel connectors you know exactly the voltage and polarity for that to never happen.
also barrel connectors are structurally sound.

>mmmm I love having a separate wall wart for every device I own
>I love how they have unremovable cables so when the cable frays I have to buy an entire new adapter
>I just love needing a dedicated power strip to plug my array of device-specific adapters into

meanwhile, I have a single USB adapter with multiple outputs and it powers my desk clock, lamp, flashlight, phone, game consoles, ereader, laptop, and even my water flosser. and if I need to take any of those things elsewhere, I don't even need to take my own adapter or cables because it's a standard and I can just borrow someone else's if I need to charge.

exact shader preset is:
>flip-horizontal.glsl
>nearest
>default
>sameboy-lcd glsl
>nearest
>4x
>image-adjustment.glsl
>linear
>default
i use flip-horizontal to flip the image before applying sameboy-lcd and then image-adjustment to flip it back because sameboy-lcd doesn't do BGR pixel order like a real gba.
i tweak sameboy-lcd a little and use image-adjustment to make the colors look similar to my gb micro. the mgba color filter and the shaders that exist look like shit.

What's more worth it: upgrading an ancient PSP 1001 already on-hand for like $50, or hunting down some Vita 1000 model hoping for a cheap price without it being fucked up?

If you're only looking to do PSP why not get a Trimui Smart Pro? Otherwise you could probably find a Vita for around $150.

Mainly looking for native performance here rather than PPSSPP emulation, but the Trimui does sound like a fair amount of bang for its buck as a portable machine.

The trimui is ass depending on the psp game you want to play. The e6 max would be much better, but it does weird shit with its kernal that limits performance so it doesn’t get too hot.

Chinkheld is better because you can upscale and it's more versatile. Psp emulation is very good.
>>11897812
The rp5 can pretty much do anything you want for retro gaming and some high end lile certain switch games for 220 dollars. It's got a vita look to it as well and oled screen but there should be cheaper handheld under 100 coming out soon that might be able to do psp very well.

Does the analogue stick on the 40xx still snap to cardinal directions? I see a lot of mixed reports online. I’m going to mostly play PS1 rpgs on it.

based ive passively followed/owned chinkhelds for a few years and ultimately have reverted to psp's as well
regarding charging cable, i'd just go with one of these
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C8J55GKX/
ostent indeed appears to be the best third-party batteries
as for the microsd/msdp adapters, always stick with the single slot ones, do not bother with the ones that fit two micro sd's
the ips upgrade on the phats seems relatively easy actually

i got a psp3000 that i'll be doing a glass lens mod to this week, which is doable on the 1000s but not to a reliable quality due to the lack of good shell options

As the other anon said, wait for the non Asian pricing for the Mangmi since that’s very good for psp and under 100
