Hey ya, I want a comfy NES thread.
To me this is the best console for "pick up and play" type games.

I much prefer the A/V famicom.
Now do you have anything else to contribute or is this another empty attempt at making a thread?

The AV famicom is shit because you have to deal with moon runes, the famicom disk system and extremely cringe carts that don't match. A top loader NES modded to output composite is the best way to enjoy NES games.

This console has aged like shit and all of its greatest games suck major ass i personally consider the snes to help when video games actually started to he cool.

What in the ever living fuck are you talking about?
When I bought an N8 I bought a Famicom one because it's so easy to use an adapter for the NES. So then getting an A/V Famicom is a no brainer because the system through the N8 retains all the enhanced sound capability of the Famicom.
Not that I expect you to understand any of that. Plus I can use Super Nintendo A/V cables/adapters with it.

Oh if you're using a flash cart it's okay, I like collecting carts so its a problem for me. My autism is trigged hard by the lack of a consistent trade dress for famicom carts, if all famicom games came in pulseline carts it would be more bearable.

The majority of Atari 2600 games don't have endings. They're shitty little games that try to have an arcade feel to give a sense of score catching.

If you're into collecting loose carts, then yea, I can see that being an issue. However most of the games I collected for Famicom are CIB. I do have a lot of loose carts too. They mostly all live in a big arcade joystick box. I have too many to fit in that box now so I have some more elsewhere too. I just got Sega's Afterburner for Famicom this year. I got the chance to get it really cheap so it's loose. The days of buying CIB famicom games for next to nothing are kind of over now. I'm lucky that I already have Contra in its pink box.

Yeah, I love the NES for pick 'em ups. The SNES kinda sucks in comparison, but the Genesis pretty much picked up where the NES left off funny enough. Great consoles.
Anonymous No.11891632 [Report]
I was just playing my A/V famicom a few days ago. There's a few console CRT televisions that have been stored there for years and so I thought I'd test out the Zenith from 1998 that's there. It felt wrong sitting in a chair to play games on that television. So I sat on the floor and it really reminded me of playing games when I was 8 years old. Console televisions are so weird how they'er meant to be on the floor. You don't really put them up any higher.

You're really into symmetry aren't you?
I don't mind a little variety. With out EA we wouldn't have Haunting starring Polterguy. Which was the last real /vr/ find that I found at a Goodwill. It was just sitting in the kids toy shelf for a couple dollars.
Wasn't long after that that their online auction site started and the stores went to shit for finding much. I still find somethings, but not like before. Now it's usually an incomplete Wii system for $50. Or a bunch of shitty ps3 games in a glass case for $8 a piece.
You should get Maximum Carnage for your collection.
I inherited my copy of Mega Bomberman from my aunt. That was her favorite game for the system.

6 pack has to be one of the best retro deals ever. Every game is a banger except for columns (imo). Grew up playing Genesis at my best friends house after he upgraded from an nes and that would’ve been awesome to have as a kid.

It is such a good deal. It was the first game I bought when I bought my Genesis and it's still the cart I play the most. Although I love columns and will defend it up and down.

I can always pop in mario, or castlevania, or contra, or megaman 1 and have a blast. It’s such a good console. The arcade style play makes a ton of the library just infinitely replayable. Being good at games like contra or ninja gaiden is actually super fun. Even mario. I can almost 1cc megaman 1 nowadays. There’s still some randomness and parts that fuck me up. But there’s enough challenge in any of the games to last a life time depending on the bar you set yourself. Actually even just doing metroid mapless and blind is pretty hard if you’re just memorizing all the rooms.

Early Mega Man games are notorious for this
>Tricky platforming section
>Just barely enough pixels to stand on to make it over the spiky death pit
>Mid-jump a tiny flying enemy spawns right in your arc of travel, nudging you into the death pit
After a while you come to expect the evil game design so you can predict exactly where the enemies will come flying onto the screen, almost like you start hacking into the mind of the level designer

Pic-related is by all official accounts, considered the spiritual predecessor to Mario Kart.

RC Pro Am is a much better game that feels way more like Mario Kart and technically it's the spiritual predecessor to Diddy Kong Racing.

>"pick up and play" type games
Yep. The quintessential quality of a fun game. Pick up & play. Pause it. Put it down at your leisure. This is what modern vidya has lost. Modern games require some pretty serious commitment a lot of the time with all the dialogue, cutscenes and "things to do" or they get you caught up in online multiplayer situations where real people (usually) are relying on you. At least we have these old games. They are a blessing. I have Batman, Dragon Warrior and Legacy of the Wizard. I really want to get some Co-Op games like TMNT, Battletoads and Chip 'n Dale. I also really want the Ninja Gaiden trilogy. I have a NES Mini and it's great, but these games are so much fun on the ol' CRT.
