>Mister owners do not care at all and very often use other software emulators themselves in addition to their Mister. They mostly just want to be left alone to talk about their device.
Also very interesting that the Mister seething has dropped off quite a bit now that we have cheap clones from Taki that even third worlders can afford. Was it just sour grapes all along?

Never a big emulator fan or user, recently tried a few to play some game without setting all the physical shit up, and was amazed at how much issues there still are, whether graphical, crash-related, input response, etc , even for the major games on a console. Wtf happened? Did they only focus on Playstation and SNES or something?

Which system and game where you trying to emulate, Mr ESL pajeet? You've got to be more specific. I really don't trust "saar I am seeing issues on screen!" anymore ever since I read a few GitHub bug trackers and found a huge chunk of them were from brownoids who don't understand the need for BIOS files or that old games displayed in 4:3 not 16:9.

And all imperfect. If you do any of those things you simply haven't even played the game. Release date in native region and you need to be aged 8-12 during that period. Memories aren't valid either as those are imperfect.

Jeez, man. SNES and PSX are much simpler and easier to emulate than anything newer.
You have to be willing to experiment with everything yourself to get settings that match the game to the emulator and the emulator to your PC (even on SNES and PSX games sometimes). I know, you want there to be a site that handholds you and lists "perfect settings" but that isn't how it is.
Emulators aren't going to be 100% perfect no matter what. I still use 'em if there's no PC port and only occasionally find games that I can't get working well enough that I don't notice It is what it is.

By the first two posts it seems I am in for people really getting offended for no reason, but anyway:
>P64
Smash Bros. hangs and crashes randomly. Emulator also freezes up. Input response is bad.
Mario 64, whatever it is called when textures aren't there and it's just black in certain areas for a second.
>Fly-whatever for DC
Sonic Adventure huge issues rendering graphics, hangs for inordinate amounts of time during loading sections.
Have to do some workaround to get the VMU screen.
>Dolphin (seems to be the best one out of what I tried)
Doraemon, aspect ratio constantly bugging out.
Pokepark, issues with the aspect ratio and motion RoM.

You have people ITT saying emulators are trash and you didn't play the game, yet everyone piles onto me who just gave an honest reaction to trying them for the first time in many years. If anyone runs an emulator and Mario as well as Sonic don't run right, they are going to be surprised. Obviously not an expert, but I am guessing input issues can't be fixed and will be trying a different emulator if there is a next time.

What the fuck is MISTER? What the fuck is an "EVERDRIVE"?

Emulating is not so much about money, I have enough money saved up to buy all the retro games I play, emulation is just the superior way to do it. Downloading a ROM is infinitely faster (and more convenient) than buying a physical copy. Not to mention, the physical copies degrade, which software never does. And to be autistic, games are software, not hardware. If the game is on your hardware, which you legally own (your PC's harddrive) then you "own" the game.

Not to mention the real advantages that you get when emulating, over using so-called "real" hardware. You can slow down or speed up the game, you can even reverse the emulation, save-states, live recording, using any controller you like, you get access to achievement databases, and Netplay on systems like NES which is totally impossible on an old NES.

I had a short time when I thought that "real games" on "real hardware" was the supreme way. But during that time I saw myself becoming a "coollector", I started basically hoarding old plastic instead of actually playing games. Now I've fully embraced emulation, I don't even keep physical copies of games anymore (with two exceptions; One DVD to confirm ownership of my Steam account in case of a ticket issue, and one non-functioning diskette of a childhood game that I keep just for memories or to use as a coaster)

Because it's brand new and they're still ironing stuff out?

Like I said, to my understanding there's a difference between emulating the console using software and hardware. Hardware emulation, if done fully successfully, is essentially like PS2s that have PS1s inside of them or Wiis with GameCubes inside of them. There's some minute differences in presentation, but there aren't going to be the sort of issues software emulation can run into like seams on what are supposed to be semi transparent textures, and other major graphical glitches. Not to mention the massive overhead for software emulation compared to physical

If Everdrives are perfect why do they get updates too? Why did the Saturn and PS1 even have later models with updated firmware?

Also you realize not all of the MiSTer updates are for the emulation itself? Many add features or are just a framework update.

Yeah, you cherrypicked the Saturn, the one console where the Mister is actually more accurate that any software emulator. But guess what, that's not down to it being FPGA. That's simply down to the people working on Mister having the drive and tenacity to do it. It's not impossible to make Saturn accurate in software, it just hasn't been done.
Also if you do post test results, you should bother to post them for both sides you're comparing, not just one.
