In my honest opinion, chibi link is less damaging than tall autistic sonic. Chibi link creates a different style of Zelda vibe. He's used in minish cap, phantom hourglass, spirit tracks, link between worlds. The 2d/non mainline thematic change after windwanker created the split was used very craftily. Where as, tall autistic sonic pretty much killed the franchise, despite the inevitable sonic game being developed every few years. It's a hollow shell of a sonic, like if he saw Hiroshima and Nagasaki first hand and just wallows away in the fields like an automaton. Sa1/2 are so janky and fucked up and completely change the tone of the sonic paradigm.
The first three sonic games had a feeling that no other sonic games can capture. Sonic advance gets in the ballpark and that mania game hit some notes, but the reason sonic fans are adamant about our stance, is because of how well crafted sonic 1-3 were. Absolutely rock solid experiences all the way through. Well designed and tight. Great music that puts most other games osts to shame and controls that are easy to pick up, but hard to master. Mario 1/3 and sonic 1-2 are the epitome of platformers, because they groove rhythmically with their mechanics as a presentation. Each gear fits in its place and is finely oiled to create the perfect amount of friction. Anyways.... Nu-sonic just doesn't touch what old sonic had.
I think Zeldas nu-windwanker style has more going for it than the myriad of nu-sonic styles. From SA to heroes to whatever the fuck sonic 06 is. Or nu-windwanker style, which has been fairly coherently applied to the games that use it. It's created the perception of "ohh yeah, I'm definitely playing nu-Zelda". Whether you think it's good or bad, it's more solidified than sonics amalgamations. Also nu-sonic is a cuck.
