If it couldn't be Butz, just use Batz from the Legend of the Crystals. It's an acceptable translation of ใƒใƒƒใƒ„ at least. They edited Reina to Lenna between the PS1 and GBA versions, so there was no excuse to keep Bartz.

Reminder that he was only called butz in a screenshot on the back of the box. It was just the name that dev who took the screenshots had called him.

Terra was already bad imo. Tina is a perfectly fine name that goes with the "celestina" combo. I definitely hate nu-final fantasy naming methods

Translation complainers love to get uppity about pointless shit like names getting changed, but will ignore an entire game's worth of actual incorrect translations and questionable localization decisions. Really makes you think!

The FF Anthology translation of FF5 was pretty funny. It's not bad, i'm okay with it, but it was clearly rushed by someone who didn't really give a fuck. Square execs were trying to cash in hardcore on the Final Fantasy name after the huge success of FF7, they didn't give a fuck.
The translation/dialogue in FF4 in FF Chronicles is a little off in spots here and there, I have no idea why they retranslated it when it was already translated. They wasted resources to make a rushed below average translation for no reason.
I'm starting to wonder if it was the same guy who worked on the FF4 and FF5 PS1 versions.
Seems like he wasn't allowed to touch FF6 though. Amen. Some conversions would've seemed like everyone was Gau.

ENG FFV PS1 was incredible. It came out only a little after the fan-translation, and overall it's an inferior product to what snotnosed schoolkids can do at the time. Rumor has it that Ted Woolsey (yes, THE Ted Woolsey!) worked on the translation, but this has been proven verifiably false: he worked on the unreleased SNES version before Square changed their mind and decided to skip it, so it likely only existed in paper form, but you see the lie repeated by weeb circles who want to feel superior to a dead horse. But we do think that the PS1 translation was instead lifted from the also-canceled PC port, which is nuts. For context, imagine if the unfinished NES translation of FFII was used for the PS1 version. Crazy.
ENG FFIV PS1 was absolutely necessary, if you've at all played the SNES version. The game was censored and dumbed-down to hell and back and was begging for a facelift. The fan-translation actually released a little afterwards by a group entirely separate from FFV's, and it's filled with more mistakes than the original translation - but of course, the market for this hack (otaku who don't know Jap for crap) touted it as a triumph at the time. Idiots. Then Square made a bazillion rereleases of FFIV and someone with no Japanese experience high off their farts decided to make an amalgamized text fanfic without cross-referencing Japanese versions. Moronic idiots. PS1 translation is fine but it got further refined into the GBA & PSP translations which are even better. If the J2e group cut their losses and turned their project into a script port of the PS1 version, we wouldn't be where we are today. Stupid selfish weebs. (Come to think of it, Square should've done the reverse and hired the RPGe kids to fix up FFV, but that notion was taboo at the time...hindsight is 20/20.)
The fact that ENG FFVI PS1 is just a very, very, VERY mildly uncensored version of the SNES version (as in basically just graphics) is funny to me since I know it upset many otaku.
