This game is hold sacred here in Argentina. There are tons of mods for it replacing teams, commentators and torunaments.
You can meet the most normalfag you could think of, but boot up this game and he'll go into full autistic hardcore mode. Mutherfuckers will know this game inside out even if they can't beat Mario 1-1.

I'm more of a Winning Eleven 2002 kind of guy... but all of the PS2 titles were amazing aswell. Konami knew what they were doing back then. I also agree it united autists and normies, recently I found that current season patches are still made for the classic PS1 Winning Eleven titles, mostly 2002, but also 2000, which was probably their only Olympics title, so I love it too for it.

This is true for every sports game. Even today, there are mods for SNES Konami soccer games. It's like, is it largely a normie, trend-hopping, cannibalizing community? Yes, but it's big enough to attract people who are really into these games. It's actually crazy how sports fans play all SP modes on the hardest levels. That's why it boggles my mind that they removed them. Another game that bugs me is Resident Evil. Everyone who owns Resident Evil is more likely to speedrun the game.
