>>11914732 Essentially this. The SNES was making bank and kicking ass in sales regardless of DKC. As for the 64 Rare may have moved a few more consoles with Banjo, Goden Eye, and DK 64 but it ultimately didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. The 64 was going to flounder because of it's decison to use cartridges and the Playstation was always going to allure the 3rd party support Nintendo lost.
>>11914743 Some Wikipedia editors made up arbitrary groupings of video game consoles in 2000s, then it got picked up by journalists and now twenty years later people can't stop using that terminology.

>>11914787 This, rare is overrated and overestimated as fuck. Rarefags genuinely Nintendo would have died without them but there is a reason why Nintendo didn't bother to buy them

Sonic would have steamrolled them if it weren't for DKC. The blue blur made Super Mario World look like pokey baby crap by comparison.
The funny thing is that Miyamoto will never forgive the Gaijin for bailing them out. He's still seething to this day that a bunch of round-eyes could out-do him at his own game.
