Rapid fire switch on official controller.
>You didn’t beat th-ACK

I remember when Kiki KaiKai made me rage so hard I started a thread about it and one anon told me that they expected you to use the turbo button to win. I'm still not sure if it's cheating or not because it's not even a licensed PCE controller it's straight up the standard one from NEC

Early shmup arcade to home conversions on the NES and PCE didn't have auto fire and it was quickly apparent that pressing a button 5000 times with your thumb is a very different level of strain than tapping a button on a table 5000 times with your index finger. Look at shmups on the Sega Genesis and SNES, all of them have auto fire in the options including the SNES Kiki Kaikai games. Turbo switches on the PCE are just a hot fix for early dev dumb decisions and most games since never bothered with auto fire because they knew you'd have a controller with turbo. There is also option is to buy an arcade stick btw which is why games that had auto fire also had the option to turn it off for a more arcade like experience.
Don't feel bad about using turbo on a shmup if you are playing on a controller, save your thumb the strain.

autofire is the one thing i actually use in all single player games.

This. I just love holding down a button in things like an RTS or RPG and having the game jump through a sequence of things that are completely useless or even counterproductive. It's also amazing to not be able to use any charge or hold weapons or moves. No one can deny what a hard core retro gamer I am because I do such intelligent things.

some faggot is going to say "um ackshually the original pce launch controller didnt have turbo switches"
Anonymous No.11917838
Is it intentional that you use the turbo button to screw attack bonk and hover over large sections of the level

The original PCE controller sucks dick. The newer revisions and TG16 controllers are much better.

Official? Heh.. Well...
>bigger than the original pad
>thicker
>wider too
>more comfy in the hands
>glorious turbo switches
>top tier quality d-pad and button membranes
We're not gonna need official.

You can make it official with the Turbo Twin Famicom.

I used to be a "you didn't beat the game" sort of anon... until I graduated medschool and somehow managed to get carpel tunnel while working anyways, now the last thing I want to do after coming back from work is messing up my hands with my hobby that was supposed to bring me fun and not pain, at least not literal and physical pain, getting older changes your views on this stuff.

If it's cheating, its because the game is bad. Spamming a button is never an intesting skill to test in a game

While the original PC engine came with a standard pad, official turbo pads were launched the same day as the console and only cost 200 yen more. Pretty much everybody who bought another PC Engine controller bought the turbo pad.

I don't care what people do as long as the don't use rewind.
If you use rewind. You're not even playing the game. The game is playing you.

It's sad how "Rewind" has essentially become a QoL feature in almost every modern rerelease of classic titles, it's just normal now and I suppose it's more appealing to normies than save states.

Have you ever watched someone trying to play a game and use Rewind? It's actually painful.

Unfortunately I have and I agree, it's painful, I feel second hand embarassment.

if using turbo makes the game easier, then it's programmed poorly

She has the Ice Beam and isn't even attempting to use it to freeze the floating Rinka projectiles, which is the most basic strategy to fighting that boss, in every game, and shouldn't even be hard to figure out for a player since you literally have to use the Ice Beam on the Metroids in the rooms immediately before that boss, in order to even get there. I think the 1cc is out of the question.
