Saw two instances of Metal Slug but wasn't paying enough attention to remember which ones. Granted I didn't go to a great many locations (what, you expect a kid to travel to find more arcade games?) but that's my anecdote. Come to think of it I never saw an SFIII cab either... There were some places later on that had cabinets loaded up with emulators & roms that had SNK fighters on them. That's as close as I ever got to seeing SNK in the arcades.

Can confirm, I am a huge faggot and bought a Neo Geo after coming into more money than I deserved. I like to occasionally post pictures of Terry Bogard so I can pretend I was "there" and LARP with the oldheads. In reality, I hate fighting games, never went to any arcades outside of dinky movie theaters with like three standing cabs and a 2 Fast 2 Furious racing game or equivalent in the early 2000s, and I only ever used my AES to play Metal Slug 1 and Blazing Star (which I got bored of after a week). I just keep it plugged in next to my TV because it looks cool and I like the SNK logo. I haven't played it in years.
