>there will never be a port of the SegaSonic The Hedgehog arcade game
Kinda surprised they never considered porting it to the 32x
Anonymous No.11923431
They were probably trying to make Sonic popular in Japan and failed (once again), as the 32x is an American abomination.

It relies on a trackball, you're not getting the intended experience on a dpad

It's a pretty lame game, and if the scarcity of boards is anything to go by, was probably pretty unpopular in arcades. As suggested by another anon, without having a trackball, there's even less to really enjoy about it.

well for one thing the 32x was basically immediately dropped by sega. it has 40 games WW and almost all of them were 1995 releases.

God the colecovision is a sexy piece of 80s power kit. that's not a controller, that's a fucking command center.

>>11925359
plugging in a second specialized controller kind of misses the point unless they release it themselves, like taito did for the egret mini.

as others said though, segasonic is not a very good game, and aside from being bait for youtuber faggots to make 10 year olds watch their

then don't use it. I don't understand this argument, how is having less games a good thing.

Kinda strange that there are so many people who supposedly played this and say it was bad. This was a great arcade game which is an absolute blast to play co-op and would have been so much fun to be able to play at home. Why tf did they never make another game like this?

I don't see the appeal for the game. It looks like 3D Blast with even worse gameplay and more baby artstyle.

I'd rather have had OutRunners 32X, or an attempt at Galaxy Force II

It plays nothing like 3D blast and is very fun. Every level has different environments and new hazards with great pacing. It's pretty much like a partygame.

No. It's nothing like those games.

Is more like many other "rides" at arcades.

Well, it's kind of like if they took a minigame from Mario Party or Wario or whatever and really fleshed it out and made a full game out of it.

I 1cc'd it using a combination of keyboard and mouse. It's a really cool game.

Between this and 3D Blast they were really trying to make isometric Sonic work.

This game works for what it is and is fun. No idea what they were thinking with 3D Blast.

Mouse for turning? Was it hard?

You just use the mouse to make precision movements since the keyboard keys always make you travel at full speed. The trick to the game is collecting all the hidden rings so your health gets restored.
Hereโ€™s a video of my 1cc https://sp.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm21889054
Fun fact: I recorded this in university on a computer in some random empty classroom where I played MAME and PC Engine games. I was passing time between classes so I wouldnโ€™t have to go home, and the computer lab was open 24/7 but it was occupied by a class sometimes.

I never saw it in an arcade back in the day, and only became aware of it when I started buying arcade stuff ~15 years ago. Never wound up getting it, but a few years back a local arcade had it installed in a candy cab with a trackball control panel. I played through it (credit feeding) with a friend, and thought it was pretty mediocre, certainly not as enjoyable as normal Sonic platformers.
>inb4 you credit fed so it doesn't count
I do not claim to be good at the game, and maybe I would appreciate it more if I went for skillful play, but using a trackball to guide Sonic through obstacle courses with basically zero enemies just wasn't very engaging.
