I don't think the Eva 64 soundtrack is supposed to be bad, it's just that people noticed that the Komm susser tod version in the game uses the same (or similar) flute synth that the menu music on SM64 uses (very soulful synth btw).
The game has some really good 5th gen-sounding renditions of the Eva OST classics, I don't see how this is supposed to be "horrendous"
