Guess you'll have to get a PS1, though, since those models can't take MechaPwn.

Just to be clear, everything will be on the memory card: games, saves, opl and apps. No HDD needed, no network, no discs.
A top tier micro SD card (formated as exFat) is a must. I recommend the Sandisk A2 extreme pro. And a usb microsd reader to plug it on your PC to transfer the isos over, obviously.

FreeHDboot with a network adapter and HDD you found out of a dumpster. If you wanna run PS1 games, just use tonyhax.

does this actually work well? i thought there was some gay issue that forced you to use a HD for full compatiblity
Anonymous No.11931749 [Report]
>>11930905 (OP)
That should not be done because it is illegal which means it is immoral.

Literally nothing has full compatibility compared to disks, but the HDD is the most compatible method, and USB the least compatible.

Haven't tried it yet, but I impulsively thought it was a good solution because usbs are cheaper than all the HDD peripherals were combined. Was running into an issue where the files were too big to drag into the fat32 usb despite having enough storage. Can freemcboot read NTFS or EXFAT?

The usb ports on a PS2 are slow as shit. They're for accessories not data transfer.
Anonymous No.11934117 [Report]

>USB 3.0 flash drive
Lol, the 3.0 really makes it faster
>>11931679
No, don't do that, PS2 USB is very speed limited and everything is going to stutter and take forever to load
Anonymous No.11934118 [Report]
>>11931054
Just do this, OP. Do it once and do it properly. Otherwise you'll just be dicking around with the other methods for mediocre results, which ultimately just wastes your time and money. But maybe you enjoy that kind of thing, because you didn't just go for the cheapest and easiest method of all: emulation.

PS2 has USB 1.1 (one point one) ports
It can't reach even 1 MB/s data transfer speed no matter what you plug in
MX4SIO and this shit >>11931194 can't reach even 2 MB/s (iirc 1.8 MB/s on a 70K and older models, 1.35 MB/s on 75K+)
SMB (100 Mb/s network) is faster and HDD is even faster
Since OP has a fat model, he can't use network without an adapter, and if he has to buy an adapter, might as well just use HDD

OPL supports exFAT in newer builds
Anonymous No.11935820 [Report] >>11938348
1. internal drive
2. udpbd (if you have a NAS and wired home networking already)
3. "PSxMemCard Gen2" or whatever clone you want

other options aren't worth it.
Anonymous No.11937045 [Report]
>>11930905 (OP)
Grimdoomer's exfat OPL distribution. it's the best option out there

Also a USB 3.0 drive won't make a difference whatsoever. The PS2 USB ports are USB 1.1 IIRC, and some slims have USB 2.0. USB is literally the slowest and least compatible method.

you can make your own udpbd server very easily.

OPL and a hard drive. I've beaten around 10 games on mine so far with no issues besides PADEMU being a bit wonky with some games and a few crashes during Bully when doing the sumo arcade game.

Yeah I've been planning to buy of those. Sucks it isn't universal as I wanna get one for the original Xbox too and $60 a piece is steep for a poorfag like me

I don’t know why people are helping you. It’s clear based on your posts that you’ve done the research and you know how to do it, but you’re just allergic to spending money. There is not secret magic way to mod your PS2 for free, sorry. I hope you actually fell for the USB meme.
