Tactical Role-Playing thread

I really like FFT, Ogre Battle 64, and the Fire Emblem GBA games, any others like these I might like?

I enjoyed front mission when I played it for the snes. There's a ds port a few playstation games, but I've never given them a try

One screenshot would have sufficed, thanks.

I like the portraits of the loading screen.
There is a guy with very spiky hair.
Who is that? Doesnt seem playable.

Just playing thisband its SO early 3D 1998 looking. Love it.
Who is the actual protag though? You get to name the 3 but who is the one you play as in endgame?
Apparently its Julian but when you name Symbios thats the name the 4th wall santa dude uses to refer to yourself.

Each disc has his own hero. Julian the hero of disc 3 is the one that connects them all though. at the very end of the third disc 3 each Hero's team gets a fight and an optional dungeon before said fight

Tactics ogre. Think it was released on snes, psx, and psp.

Disgaea 2 is really all you need. It skips everything but the battling (pretty much) and has enough other built in autism features to keep you busy forever. The newer ones add all kinds of other crazy shit but they're NOT RETRO nor do I own anything newer than a PS2 so I don't care about them.

Super Robot Wars OG or the normal ones if you like mecha anime

There's a remaster for PC and consoles

This but Phantom Brave instead.

"Remaster", as in shitty blurred sprites and the fuckening of the battle system with unnecessary mechanics tacked on.

SNES version of Tactics Ogre is cool, but the translation has some nasty bugs. Text of cutscenes between each of the chapters doesn't display properly. You see a bunch of cool images and "something has happened".
That's what you get.

Emulate the PS1 or translated saturn version instead. Or get the PSP/PC version.

I'm playing it in these days. It's really charming and nice but nothing like FFT or serius SRPG in general.

I'd say Vandal Hearts II is FFT-2 if they made a FFT-2. Even the dual turn system you can say it's derivated from FFT magic charge system.

The word is "derived", dude. Did you pull that random jumble of letters out of a hat or something?

FFTA is great. It's too easy, but it's still great.

Kartia
Tenchi Muyo RPG
Crystal Warriors (and it's Jap-only sequel, Royal Stone, which has such sillily-named items as The Ingwaz of Ripening)
Dark Wizard
The Shining Force series
Brigandine
Langrisser
Probably that Wizard of Oz one I read about once a million years ago that looked cool as shit. Might've been for PC.
