GG games are trash and provide nothing that the MD games don't do better. also they have the actual problem of not being able to react to obstacles fast enough because of the smaller screen/resolution

The first four are pretty close to each other and I like them all, I didn't like CD very much. Haven't played the others.

I still to this day don't understand why they were churning out so many bad Sonic games for the Game Gear/Master System. The very first one by Ancient was good with amazing music by Yuzo Koshiro but after that they'd been releasing piece of shit after piece of shit for literal years non-stop. Were these games even selling well? Sonic was a new franchise at the time and they were already tarnishing its reputation by doing this

3&K should always be combined like was intended from the start. It doesn't have that feature for nothing. It was intended to be one game but they split it and came up with the connecting cartridge compromise due to time constraints. With that in mind, it is undeniably the best Sonic game. Then I guess Sonic 2 and Sonic 1. The Game Gear games and CD can fuck off I don't care.

Sonic 3&K is the greatest 2D platformer ever made.

3&K has the highest peaks as a full game but I don't enjoy doing time attack runs of individual levels which is how I scratch the Sonic itch whenever it comes

Just realized that there's no real consensus on which Genesis Sonic is best
Sure, normalfags will not pick 1 or CD, but even then they're divided between 2 and 3&K
And in this board I've seen more than enough people who think 1 or CD were the best. And there are even some who prefer only &K or Master System 2 (though the latter are a minority)
Maybe that's a good thing, all 4 (or 5) Sonic games on Genesis are pretty different from each other

Sonic 1 is excellent, Sonic 2 plays great on Master System, Sonic Chaos' not too brain dead on Game Gear, Sonic Triple Trouble feels like a Genesis title... they're not crap at all.
