Haven't played Hot Shots, is it actually good?
Anyway, I like both Neo Turf Masters and Mario Golf for different reasons
Neo Turf Masters is better for short play sessions and Mario Golf is better for long ones

Hot Shots Golf has a lot in common with Mario Golf. It was made by Camelot, who then developed the entire Mario Golf/Tennis series. You could see it more or less as a prototype version of Mario Golf.
The director of the original Hot Shots Golf left Camelot to form Clap Hanz, who have made every Hot Shots game ever since.
Both series play pretty much the same. I prefer the visuals in Hot Shots more.

I'm picking Neo Turf Masters for a quick fix. But if I want a more thinky game I go for Kirby. You might say it's a bit more pool than golf but idgaf.
