Such a cool game. They even put a kino Indian Mario in it.

I was like peak target demographic for this game when it came out, but I always thought it was boring and preferred SML1

Just beat this recently! I liked it. Took me forever to find that space world so I could wrap up the game, but then I got stuck for a while on that last castle stage. Pretty massive difficulty spike right at the end, but it was sick.

Have you played the prequel? Maybe you'd like it better.

I loved SML 2 as a kid. It was the first GB game I remember playing that felt like a console experience. I love its open ended nature and the weird level theming.
Playing it again recently, it’s has some wonky hit detection and controls. Not horrible but play this then play 3 or World right after and you’ll see what I mean.

Sml1 is tiny. Like the opposite of sml2.

because they tried to approximate the NES experience the best they could and it worked well enough

sml2 went full zoom at the expense of playability

warioland also zoommaxxed but at least they changed the gameplay to fit the zoom level

Not gonna lie, playing this on an emulator? 10 times easier than playing on a real DMG.

Anon. Why do you respond with such annoying bitching and complaining? The least you could do is say, "Yeah, you're right, anon. At least we have SML1".

does sameboy let you customize the border? because I really don't want to look at emulator branding the entire time I play, I'd rather just see the default super gameboy border or something
Anonymous No.11954307
>>11954227
no, you have to use a border shader but those tend to break any shaders you stack on top of them
Anonymous No.11954308 >>11955123
>>11954227
nta but i use sameboy and i don't even know how to get borders like that, for me it's just a window of the game itself which im fine with

It's a setting under core options. Mainly you use it so the output looks right with CRT shaders since it creates a 240p image, otherwise you get fuck huge scan lines with the normal 144p output.

> secret exit in mario zone
i legit had a dream as a child that i found and played a secret exit in mario zone, on the gray brick, yellow / green LCD and all. It was in his spinning ear. It was so vivid and real that when i emulated the game later in life i looked everywhere for this secret level and could swear it was a memory...
and now i'm almost 40 lol
