I am play with original hardware mostly, but I try from time to time things like aje pcbs, and others RPI solutions.
Recalbox like any other arcade related hardware is designed by people who let say don't have common (minus Darksoft who do really awesome but expensive plug and play solution)

Regarding your problem It either it assign your controller to a new a new input everytime you boot and other time the input file is on conflict with the original file and something make it read only. try a new install it may work better after that.

If you use a arcade stick, best solution for autofire is an dedicated +5v pcb you put inside (I have those on my Cocktail table) you can even build it yourself for less than 5 dollars. Good luck

I donโ€™t know your case specifically but Iโ€™m curious about it, do you remember the name?

Every private initiative is doomed to fail.
Preservation costs too much money, and even storage alone will eventually hit 5 figures a year.
On top of that, ownership of donations and games has to be secured.
People are greedy, so in case of conflict it always ends up tied to a single person or company. Thatโ€™s why it has to be nationally funded.

I donโ€™t know about Cboxes but my recommendation is simple: the most important part of a Supergun is the PSU. Anything else is gimmicks you can DIY yourself. rules are simple
>Donโ€™t cheap out on the PSU.
>PC PSU is shit.
>Chinese arcade PSU is shit.

You need a PSU with reliable voltage and proper adjustment for 5V.
Adjustable 3.3V is not a luxury either. (for old games and JVS)
Mean Well from Taiwan is a solid choice for new hardware (check the RT-85).
A full capkit on a SUN Naomi PSU will last you forever.

Additional note:
- Not sure if those things support JVS hardware (like a Naomi for example), thatโ€™s another story entirely.

>>11953571
Avoid MV-6F (6 slots), MV-4F (4 slots), and MV-1 โ€” theyโ€™re old and unreliable.
If lazy: MV-1FZ, everything works out of the box, tank and reliable as fuck. the bios is on a slot and not solder on a the PCB.
If not too lazy: MV-2F (2 slots), just needs SNK input wiring for your Supergun.
If rich and got space: MV-4FS (I literally pulled one from a shitty cab and itโ€™s been working fine for 4 years now).
You need the UniBIOS 4.

Or find a group of people you can buy and trade with (no need to hoard every game youโ€™ll only play once).
Wholesale is also an option, but you need the cashflow for that.

Knowledge is important too: what version it is, if conversion is possible, and the differences between regions.
For example, I got a Japanese Bomb Jack PCB for 29 euros because the seller was sure it was a bootleg.
Turns out it was just a Japanese board with a German manufacturer sticker on it (used as a model before local manufacturing started).

So I have a question about arcade roms, they all come with gibberish formated names and emulators don't like it when they get renamed, which is annoying. Then stuff like revisions and countries are a headache. Retroarch recognizes some of them after an auto-scan but not all, and I'd like more granular organizing like by genre or dev etc.

How do you organize this stuff?
Anonymous No.11954720 >>11954721 >>11954734
>>11954681
It makes perfect sense when you understand why they're named that way. A lot of times PCBS will have a chip name with the ROM # they are. So mame will name them just that.

For instance, Tower of Doom's USA pcb has the program roms named DAD, the number usually corresponds to the slot on the board (Slot 1, Slot 2 etc...)

So the roms will be DAD.01, DAD.02, the sprites and other data were mask roms with M as their extension so you'll see DAD12m, or DAD13m

It's down this way for preservation because if you own this board and that particular rom went bad, you know exactly which rom it is.

Itโ€™s really an overcomplicated game for nothing if youโ€™re only going for a 1CC.
Avoid all bonuses and power-ups after the initial 4 upgrades and you shouldnโ€™t have any problem minus stage 4 last boss pattern and stage 6 draging everything until slowdown kill the game .

I donโ€™t know shit about the amerifat market.

For none arcade monitor, in general, if itโ€™s just a generic TV, nobody cares (sad but true).
The only exception is if you have something exceptional like a Sony KX Profeel or (less exceptional) a pro monitor (HTM/BVM/PVM).

Best bet is checking the forums and you may finding a genuine nice person who can repair (really rare, but not impossible) or some cuck who will ask you to suck his dick online so he blesses you with an overpriced repair.

IMO man the fuck up and learn to repair/service your monitor yourself.
Boomers were basically monkeys and could learn to service any TV in 2 weeks of training.

Geometry and convergence is easy, capkit is long but shouldn't be hard. the rest depend on the material you have but can also be learn with time case by case.

Finalburn Neo also works great on Windows 7. If you select DirectDraw7 as the blitter, the latency is lower than modern machines on Windows 10 and DX9. It's actually based.

>One anon said 50 of them were made in the 90s. Surely at least 1 of them is in storage somewhere?
I'm a very old fag. I won't say exactly where, but I was witness to 2 different Ridge Racer Full Scale being scrapped in the early 2000s. These arcades have both closed down years ago. At the time I asked the workers there why they were doing it. They said was the full scale machine wasn't earning that much money anymore after 10 years. The machine needed constant maintenence, and took up a huge amount of space in arcades. The owners wanted space for new machines. So the owners ordered the workers to scrap the Full Scale. They sold the red car to car collectors. Then literally rolled up a rental dumpster to the back entrance of the arcade just threw all the remaining pieces out. I remember seeing it happen and felt really bad. I wanted save the machine but it was so damn huge that there was no WAY I could fit it in my apartment. Back then the idea of "arcade collecting" was really a big thing. Arcades were just considered old tech that was disposable and thrown out when new arcades were released. I have no doubt this is what happened to all those ridge racer full scales. Just tossed out into the garbage. But 20 years later suddenly there is a retro revival and everyone wants to play the old arcade machines but most of them are gone now unfortunately. It might be possible to get Namco to make a new Ridge Racer Full Scale like they did for that movie that came out on Netflix.

Damn I'm guessing you got these before covid? Feels like arcade gaming jumped higher in price than the rest of the retro market. Most Cave or Raizing stuff is at least $1k.

It's about $500, not particularly difficult to find, difficult to find for a non-predatory price though. But I guess that's just the arcade market in general.

You people need to understand that these arcade machines and arcade boards are 30 to 40 years old now. The number of boards on the market will only ever decrease due to boards failing, breaking, etc. Prices will only ever go up. Not down.

The "golden age" for collecting arcade parts for super cheap was during the 2000s. Immediately after the arcade crash when everyone was throwing out their arcade equipment to play PS2 and Xbox at home. Then arcade hardware prices started to rise in the 2010s. Then spiked even harder in 2020.

The good times for collecting original hardware for cheap is long over.

As promised, hereโ€™s a game: Dragon Blaze. Probably Psikyoโ€™s most beautiful and complete game.
The Production values is insane, on par with what CAVE was doing if you ask me.
The game is almost too perfect. Not my favorite Psikyo (thatโ€™s Gunbird 1 and Sengoku Blade), but still.
Not as mean and crazy as Strikers 1, Gunbird, or Sengoku Blade, but definitely one of the hardest challenges you can face in arcade.

Unfortunately not, I primarily emulate. I don't have much space to work with and I'm broke so I just have a small multicade setup with MAME. There's a small arcade not too far from where I live that I visit every once in a while. There's nothing rare but they have most of the classic vertical games as well as others ike Operation Wolf, Cruis'n World, Tekken 2, and Golden Axe. Mostly sidescroller beat-em-ups and fighting games. I shoot the shit with the owner whenever i'm there and he's super chill and clearly passionate about games but I doubt the place will stick around for long. Going to make the most of it while it's still there.

How the fuck do I beat the fist fight part of Deko in Sin and Punishment 2? It feels genuinely unfair and cheap, not just hard

I don't remember much of the game but minus spaming the 3 hit combo punch punch kick and avoiding his grabing attack I don't think I have done anything special.
