Most the normal names are the same. Amos and Terry, and then Milly, which I count as an anglicized version of Milayou and not as a separate name altogether.
The names that were changed all had some type of significance in the game. Barbara means "foreigner", Chamoro is a race of people that the character happens to look like (they're also catholics), Hasan means something like pretty boy and is an obviously foreign name (and his skin was also darker in the original artwork for some reason). Their names were changed to also have significance in English. Ashlynn, because her home town was set on fire, Nevan is either Welsh or Irish for saint, and Carver because he is a carpenter.
There's also a pattern with the monster names. When the monster has a normal Japanese name, it is usually translated literally in English. But many monsters, maybe as many as half, have English names. This has an exotic quality in Japanese, but it isn't captured in English if you just translate green worm as green worm. So they chose to give the monsters with English names puns to separate them from the "ordinary" monsters with Japanese -> English names.
