Why did Namco completely avoid the Saturn then released fucking Soulcalibur on the Dreamcast?

Namco had a falling out with Nintendo and Sega in the early part of the 16-bit generation, they even went to court with Nintendo over Nintendo's practices. Sony comes onto the scene, tells them that everything Nintendo did wrong the opposite is happening here, become our partner and we can have a great relationship - they did and Namco never peaked higher than that. Dreamcast rolls around and Sega explains they've changed and would like to offer them a deal as well. Namco was happy to oblige.

Why did they still release SNES games anyway? PC Engine money wasn't enough?

Namco historically always followed the money. They jumped on Famicom early. A few years later they started to hate Nintendo's guts but still kept releasing games for their system because it was a market leader. They published games for PC Engine and Mega Drive in the 80s to try to get away from a toxic relationship, but once Super Famicom crushed both in Japan, they quietly left and went back to Nintendo's table. Namco was one of the biggest publisher on PC Engine during the HuCard era, but they released zero games on CD.
With PlayStation Namco was personally invited by Sony to join forces, with the latter also providing hardware powering Namco's future arcade boards. They were very comfortable working with Sony and had no reason to rock the boards by looking at Sony's competitor, which by 1996 was definitively losing the fight in Japan.

Guardian Heroes, Dragon Force, Bomberman, off the top of my head, so they left the biggest impression.

these are some of the good ones I recognize from looking at a list.
Albert Odyssey, Astal, Baku Baku, Blast Chamber, Bug, Clockwork Knight, CrimeWave, Croc, Daytona USA, Die Hard Trilogy, Earthworm Jim, Fighting Vipers, Hardcore 4x4, The Horde, In The Hunt, Independence Day, The Legend of Oasis, Mortal Kombat, Myst, Nights Into Dreams, Norse by Norse West, Panzer Dragoon, Sega Rally Championship, Shining Force (there's like 6 games), Three Dirty Dwarves, Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter, Virtual On, Wipeout, Worms.

but I played all these decades ago.

memes are intangible ideas and are better suited for describing consoles that don't exist. describing things people like as "a meme" is as much a millenialism as describing fads as being "a thing". learn what words mean before using them

as for the thinly veiled recc request, it'd be helpful if you gave some genres you enjoy and seeing as you didn't do that, I can safely assume the request was made in jest and nothing offered will be considered whatsoever. cool slide thread

I don't have to "prove" jack shit to you and anyone who isn't a console warring retard already knows the Saturn is not a "meme".

This is a false premise thread built for console warring, (You) are trying to imply that everyone thinks the Saturn is a "meme". Only a youtuber watching trendy "retro gamer" fag would think that, he'd probably also think the N64 was a successful console worldwide since it's all the trendy youtubers talk about these days.

Damn is this why Tales of Phantasia never made it to the states?
That game would have raped the fuck out of Square-Enix in the west, from Telenet/Wolf Team of all people.

Sadly the best games on that system are also on PS1(Rayman,Exhumed,Grandia,Tomb raider...)

These threads are always the same, shitposter who hates video games asks for a list, gets provided a list, begins to state why none of the games on the list counts (while also having never played them), keeps asking for more games, rejecting new games provided, so on and so on. They just waste your time forever.

That "is [thing] a thing?" construct is much, much more widespread than this usage of "meme". Only kids who grow up in backwater online slums like 4chan use "meme" the way OP did. It's exotic slang used by people within a particular subculture who have been excessively isolated from mainstream education. You know, like ebonics. It's the kind of cultural practice that a lot of 4chan users would viciously denigrate if they didn't happen to be the ones practicing it. People who hate impoverished black Americans acting exactly the way impoverished black Americans do, basically.

Namco was strange at choosing which titles to localize or not. They would sometimes localize a game and then release it only in PAL regions. That happened multiple times.
