trying once again to play crash and I'm already frustrated (always been bad at platformers). should I be playing this with the d-pad instead of the stick since it came out before playstation had analog?

also I hear you only get a good ending if you get 100% so does he just kill the girl if you don't?

If you don't like it, don't play it. If you're bad at plarformers, you are never getting 100%

Don't use sticks.

it's fun during the parts when it's not hard

I used both the d-pad and analog. The d-pad was for precise jumps and walking in straight lines. I found this game quite enjoyable and not that difficult. I watched videos when I couldn't get all the boxes. What I don't like is the borderline speedrunning requirements for gold relics in later games.

You've answered your own question here.
>also I hear you only get a good ending if you get 100% so does he just kill the girl if you don't?
No. But the fact that you're already hung up on achieving the best ending despite never finishing this very short game tells me you have zoomer completionist brainrot where you just want to beat everything 100% as quickly as possible to tick off some list in your head rather than meaningfully engaging with old games.

use the dpad for this for sure

100% ending is presented as a joke where all characters are given silly epilogues and you don't even fight the final boss in the end. Don't bother with it unless you end up loving the game. The sub-100% ending is the good ending and is treated as canon by later games.

maybe not 100% but I don't like being sent back too far when I die because I don't want to be forced to replay the parts I've already beaten. it wastes time and keeps me from seeing what the next part is

I genuinely suggest you just stick to Fortnite or whatever.

have you even played fortnite? that game makes you wait at least 5 minutes when you die, for a new round to load

There's not much of a difference but if you find you can't do straight-line jumping consistently with your analog controller, the d-pad should at least make things easier (the analog axis threshold shouldn't make it a problem with the original hardware though).

Curiously, I believe the modern remake is actually harder due to the more detailed environments and shading making judging distances accurately somewhat more difficult.

Anyway, it's not a super difficult game but some of the requirements to 100+% it are may be a little demanding (perfect-running some of the longer stages to get colored gems for example), though still reasonable for any kind of player.

everyone went to dual shock as soon as they came out for the Playstaion 1 it released with analogie sticks for the PS1 in 1997, long before the PS2

If a game's difficulty is based on finding hidden stuff, it's just a scam to sell guides. But we're not in the 90s anymore. Crash's difficulty is in the execution. You can watch a whole gameplay and still not be able to finish a single level without dying.

Why is she dressed like a skank?
Cortex created her, right? Is this the kind of outfit he had lying around?

Don't worry about the 100% ending, it's nothing special. Only go for it if you beat the final boss and want to keep playing.

The 100% ending is a bonus for people replaying the game, that's all.

100% is fun and not all too difficult. I would look up gem locations though otherwise you'll be wasting a lot of time trying to 100% stages you can't even 100% yet.

Also there's a couple stages with some tricky hidden boxes, maybe look those up if you beat a stage twice and end up missing boxes despite swearing you got everything (looking at you Great Gate...)

>should I be playing this with the d-pad instead of the stick since it came out before playstation had analog?
Why is this even a question? The game doesn't have analog controls, even if you map an analog stick to the dpad it's still not analog movement. And finally, isn't this just up to your own preference? If you preferred to play with the dpad mapped to the stick, wouldn't you know that yourself since it would be your preference, right? People ask the strangest things here.

This. I sat down one evening and beat Crash for the first time and didn't bother with collecting everything. Was satisfied with beating the final boss.

1. Use the directional pad, Crash 1 was made with it in mind and it works better than analogs.
2. Don't go for 100% right away, just focus on getting to the end of levels.
3. Be patient, wait and plan ahead, this solves most levels.
