I think he means take a cheap forever pak clone board and put it in an OEM case. Gives you a genuine looking FRAM controller pak and doesn't cost a lot. Somebody sells these pre-made on eBay where I live, they're like $15.

Making them battery powered was even worse. There's no good excuse, saturn and PlayStation memory cards didn't use batteries.

1. Buy a lot of 5 Performance memory cards "untested" for $20.
2. Replace take apart and replace the CR2032 battery (the Performance memory cards use a coin battery holder, instead of soldering the battery).
3. Fire up Proskater and let it repair the memory card.
You spent half as much money and you have 4 more memory cards.
