Worst save system ever. Why did they do it?

Game literally has auto-save that you can enable or disable. What the fuck are you talking about

It's that it gets pissy if it detects a different memory card, and also it can easily brick your save if you're emulating it. Also you can't get on a new car without forcefully saving, which limits the amount of cars you can try without going broke.

It's not a minor nitpick when you can easily lose your entire car garage because you dared to quick save in the middle of a 24 hours race and the game didn't like it.

Nigga, like 80% of PS2s are defective, either totally kaput or have faulty lenses, so you emulate or hack it to load isos from the HDD. Either way you're doing a heckin' illegalerino

Don't forget that it's one of the few PS2 games that actually stops you from just copying the file to a second memory card in the PS2 UI.

I didn't even know that. That's crazy. I don't know why they got so autistic with the save feature on this game.
Anonymous No.11958953 [Report] >>11958969
>>11958109
In this case you should be blaming the emulator and not the game.
Anonymous No.11958962 [Report]
I figured out how not to trigger the error after a few snags. who cares
Anonymous No.11958969 [Report] >>11958995

The emulator has problems because of the way the save system is designed for the real console. If you quick save and then do a bunch of stuff, you can lose your entire car garage because as >>11958920 says, Polyphony programmed the saves to avoid people sharing them. So if the game detects anything midly different from the last time it was saved to the memory card, it will wipe out your car garage just like that. Also like it was previously mentioned, it won't let you try new cars without saving the game, which can result in digital bankruptcy pretty quick. So a game in which the appeal is having a massive selection of cars, you're penalized for trying to get a feel for them. You end up avoiding buying a majority of new cars as to not get a credit penalty in the case the auto is fucking shit, and in practice you'll spend most of the time driving the prize cars you get.

I beat the game on PCSX2. Zero issues.
Wtf are you mongrels talking about.
Anonymous No.11958995 [Report] >>11959740
>>11958969
If I remember correctly the issue is only that you can't have a save state where you went back in time after a memory card save. So just put it on manual saves, use save states in places it would normally autosave, and only do a card save at the end of a play session.

It can be copied to another ps2 memory card. I know because I have a ps2 card dedicated to copying gt4 saves when I want to try out a car

stopping you from copying the save isn't even the worst of it, there's multiple layers of encryption on the save files just to make it harder to cheat

AMATEUR
Anonymous No.11959145 [Report]
So, this thread is about an anon whining about an emulator bug. Worthless. A bunch of games locks you out for copying to another memory card, like DOA2.
Anonymous No.11959415 [Report]
>>11959091
i'm not sure about gameshark codes, but for hacking the saves it took like 10 years for the encryption to get figured out and the save editor still has weird limitations where you need to have driven the car first before you can even modify it
speaking of the save editor you can do some silly stuff, i cut a cars weight down to 100kg and it just kept bouncing off the road and floating in the air

It can brick your memory card
>This game has a rather infamous game-breaking glitch that occurs from having Chronicles of the Sword data on your memory card. Since this mode must be played in order to unlock all additional items for character creation, including additional disciplines and weapons, eventually encountering this glitch is inevitable.

>In rare cases, the bug can occur randomly on its own, as by simply having Chronicles of the Sword data on the memory card, your game is always at risk. The most well-known way to trigger it is by deleting or copying the save data for another game that was made before the Soulcalibur III data on the memory card. For some reason, doing this makes the game create a secret dummy file on the memory card that cannot be deleted. Deleting or copying save data that was made after doesn’t seem to have any adverse effects, however.

>Anytime after this point, the game will load and play as normal, but if Chronicles of the Sword data is loaded or overwritten after clearing or failing a level, the game's save data will become corrupted, showing this soul-crushing (hehe) message and rendering the current save unplayable. Attempting to restart the game will show the same message upon trying to reload. This may also result in having a block of corrupted data on your memory card, but this is also very rare.

>This bug exists in all US/EU versions of the game, as well as the Greatest Hits re-release. It was patched in the Japanese "2.00" release, which can only be differentiated from the "1.01" version by the SID code on the inner hub of the disc (it has to read 45T5.) There are reports of it being patched in the PAL Platinum Edition, although, this is disputed.

This game is from wich videogame?
Anonymous No.11959740 [Report]
>>11958995
you used to be able to do that while emulating, but now PCSX2 auto-ejects the memory card on loading a save state and i don't think there's a way to disable it (no use case etc). and GT4 doesn't only hate if you swap cards, it's actually if the SAME card is removed and put back in, it still won't let you save to it.
