The screen looked good when they were new. Over time the pixels decayed and turned green.

The boxes are marked β€œAAA”. Therefore, this could only apply to a Game Boy Pocket.

This thread again?
A digital photo of a GB screen isn't the actual "classic Game Boy experience", but you can get better at taking pics

OP was clearly using something like this, and yet your "good pic" looks significantly worse.

>the constant scrounging for batteries and using half dead ones with new ones and trying tricks like pressing down on the ends to squeeze out the last bits of power that we could.
Zoomers will never understand what a big deal it was that the Gameboy Advance SP came with a charger.

i had the rechargable battery pack for my gameboy, only had to worry about batteries for the light attachment (thank god for that battery pack, the light took 4 AAs so if the GB was running on 4 AAs too it was heavy as hell)

I could never get into handhelds as a kid because of this major issue. If you had fun, fine, I'm not trying to say it's impossible to like, but for me not being able to see things comfortably made playing more of a chore than something fun still.

Nowadays with modern emulation handhelds I can finally enjoy these libraries, and appreciate their quality, just a shame I couldn't do it before.
