Just walking around in weird places that change from time to time, sometimes weird pictures of real people appear as well, sometimes you also make some friends

Fentanyl is better than LSD because it won't torture you for feeling bad. Any drug you have to be in a "good mindset" to take is a terrible drug.

I really love these simple glow/flicker effects, especially the stark white fluorescent flickering. Still images don't completely do it justice, but I can't get a clip right now.
I feel like I saw this mostly on PS2 games, was it one of those things it could pull off due to framebuffer fuckery? Regardless, it could make otherwise hideous games very atmospheric in places. Does anyone else know what I mean?

Is this worth playing with the spanish->English machine translation? I held out because a real translation group was working on it but that fell through seemingly

Id say this for arena and daggerfall. Getting lost in those fever dream cities is wild. Take some dxm and dph and you'll be dreaming in arena cities or smoke some salvia and become the city itself.

This is so fucking weird. I took acid and had best trip of my life but ate weed brownies and experienced the worst paranoia trip ever.
Buddy telling me that this 'state' is forever during the trip didn't exactly help.

I love this part in Castle of Illusion, despite it having spiders, which I can't stand, I guess it goes to show how good it actually is.
Highgate Cemetery in Nightmare Creatures. The light snowfall and occasionally seeing a spirit fly out of a grave. Especially the second thing, it felt supernatural/metaphysical in a way beyond the rest of the game which was occult but in a more earthly way.

it is, it's obviously horrendously fucked, broken english, and the actual message box alignment is terrible, but it all kind of works in a weird way
when characters talk weird in a jrpg that's taking itself seriously or some shit, that's weird, but when characters talk weird in germs, it's kino
castlevania 2, any town when you enter at night and all the people are gone, the night is black and zombies are freely walking around the shops and churches. its unsettling as a kid

Lucasarts always made the most atmospheric backgrounds in their adventure games. It's crazy how much charm the Monkey Island games have alone.
