I was happy to not have it in my back log. At first it was great, then I just ended up doing the beach loop and buying keys and completely broke the game then I had to go back and find these hidden rooms in dungeons that I half assedly ran through. It was cool how open the world is and I had a good experience even though the last half was a web of self inflicted bullshit.

Being impartial, it was honestly a great game and by 1986 or 87 standards truly remarkable. I think the game holds up actually quite well, the only thing is the typical cryptic NES stuff but the clues were sufficient. There was the seemingly daunting task of having to search for shit and bomb/burn everything but it wasn't so bad (especially once you get the red candle) and the game was actually loaded with hidden stuff.

The only thing I did was search if it was normal that I couldn't pick up the master sword to make sure my game wasn't glitching out or anything as it gave no indication, I inadvertently found out you need more hearts or something. Completed the game with all dungeons fully explored, all 16 hearts, found dungeon 9 without using the flute. The only things missing were the red ring and for some reason I didn't get the map in dungeon 9 despite killing all the Patras or whatever. I suspect one of them dropped it but I missed it and left the room, losing it forever. Still fully explored the entire dungeon and probably opened up all hidden paths because I bombed the shit out of literally everything. I hope this qualifies as beating the game by /vr/ standards.

Also played on Retroarch using Mesen, no save states or aids used, no guides and only consulted the original manual. Saved the game as you do traditionally.

Yeah I'm looking forward to links adventure. I'm halfway through la, but I've played LA a few times before. I wanted to play the og, then la, then loz2. As I remember reading or watching something that says links awakening is the in-between game from loz1 to 2. The whole Link on a raft sailing across the sea thing. After that, is there a timeline that actually makes sense or is it just a cluster fuck of duck upchuck on a dump truck?

Just use nintenfag or something else, "tendie" is such a non-threatening, vegan "insult".
Also while you're at it go back to /v/. They enjoy console wars more there.

Tendie is tied to the old adage "chicken tendies and chockie milk" infering that nintendies are manchildren. But a zoomer such as yourself with such vast knowledge and empathic abilities should know that.

Do you mean Link's Awakening? LoZ2 is "The Adventure of Link"

As for the story and lore, I don't take it seriously and don't really care. One because I never took Zelda to be quite serious in that regard, to me it's almost like Mario. It's quite basic story wise, something about the villain Ganon, save the princess, etc. The second is that because they make a game, and if it's successful, only then make a sequel, not every game is made with one in mind and even if it was, a series like Zelda that goes on forever just has new shit added to it each time by necessity, so it never truly works as a consistent narrative and I can't view it that way and just view each title as it's own story much of the time. So to your question, I can't really say.

Tendie started being used in recent times by neo-/v/. It used to be nintenfag/nintendrone.
Also, all video games are for children.

Id imagine most children would not be able to get through lots of 80s simulation games or even understand what the point of playing them is. Hello most adults these days would get fucked playing old 80s simulation games. Most people wouldn't be able to beat aerobiz supersonic, I don't expect a 6 year old to.

I beat and it felt it must have been a mind-blowing incredible game for it's time, and still holds up today in its own unique way since there are few games like it.

I really thought it was going to be harder too, I didn't need any guides at all except for the manual it comes with and a guide for the final dungeon. The whole game is pretty easy up until the final dungeon, especially those fucking things that eat your shield.

You have no argument. What little kids are going to play a-train? None, most adults can't into those types of games or even want to. The point is, these games were not developed with kids in mind. These are hardcore business sims that, usually, only a certain type of adult actually enjoys playing them.

I don't think you're really supposed to feel anything other than maybe a sense of accomplishment and wonder. It wasn't til the 3rd game they really tried to put more emphasis on the story and started making the games melodramatic. If you played through the 1st super mario bros did you feel anything when you beat 8-4 It's the same thing, bad guy dead, you win!

Obviously you should have been enjoying it as well if you bothered to get all the way through it. If you beat the game just to say you beat it you're a chucklehead but as far as feeling something because of the story there's barely a story and it's essentially the same story as that mario game except with magic and treasure hunting.

I liked the game's aesthetics, music, the exploration part, using different items, some shit was somewhat cryptic and searching for stuff felt like a slog however. I found dungeons 5 and 6 to actually be the hardest parts of the game. Once you get the hang of fighting wizzrobes and darknuts (what worked for me was simply being patient. Wizzrobes were most easily dealt with by baiting and killing the red ones first then avoiding and steadily weakening the blue ones while staying out of their direction) it was easy. After that I started bombing and burning shit and once I got the hang of how to do it (rules are seemingly one secret and only one door in any overworld wall per screen, only the top side walls are bomb-able, dungeons walls may have secret passages only at the midpoints. Some dungeons may have off-map rooms) it became the most fun. The final 3 dungeons were my favorite. Most of the bosses were easy. I read too much into how to defeat Ganon and tried using various items such as the silver arrows first, thinking it might freeze him so I could use the sword to finish him. I guess you just start stabbing everywhere until you hit him enough, then it was obvious to finish him off with the arrows.

You're just assuming things like a midwit. Let me foonspeed your mouth a bit with a little secret. the game .
I add games to my backlog after playing them for a few minutes. I have a large backlog, but here's why it works for me. If I play a game and do not enjoy playing past the beginning, I drop it like your mom dropped you on your head as a baby. Obviously, she dropped you on your head numerous times and I've dropped numerous games from my backlog. The most recent was Chrono trigger. I might go back and play it, but as of now I just don't feel it. On the other hand I got into playing ultima worlds: Martian dreams, which is actually bready gud. You should try having some discipline sometime, kiddo.

Yes, the classics like nintendrone have been filtered on /v/ for years, so after a while they switched to tendie. It's like how they switched to snoy (which I think they copied from 2channel) because sonygger is banned there. No one cares about Xbox, so to my knowledge there's no replacement for xbot.
