A couple hints with NG1
>Don't stop moving. NG is designed to be played quickly and for you to get into a rhythm of sorts. If you try to play slowly and carefully, you'll get eaten alive by respawning enemies. Especially towards the endgame.
>Bloody Malth can be beaten by just bum rushing him and slashing away. You'll outlast him if you're quick.
>Jaquio is a pain in the ass if you don't know what to do. This is the one fight in the game you need to be really patient. Stay on the ground and let the fireballs fly past you and try to time it so you can jump up and get a hit in while still avoiding the fire. But yeah stay on the ground.

Not many, if any, will believe me, but, it's possible to defeat Malth without taking any hits without the slash. You have to react extremely quickly, but you can jump out the way of his beams AND give him damage. Good luck.

"Can" more like the only feasible strategy unless you're a ninja god. If you try to be a cool guy and dodge some attacks you're risking getting killed and going back to the beginning of the stage.

NTA, but the "trick" is to get into a rhythm of moving across the stage without taking any damage. Learn how to weave through his homing fireballs using the stage to your advantage. Once you get good enough you'll get into a rhythm and you'll begin to see that there will be opportunities available to you to jump up and air slash him as you are moving back and forth across the stage. Bonus points if you can multi-air slash him on the move. It's all based on timings and rhythm. When I learned how to do it I gave up on trying to hit him for a long while and just let my instincts train themselves on the movements, running them through my own subconscious analysis until I could dodge his bullshit without sweating it. It will seem like you can't do it at first, but if you spend enough time trying, then you will basically unlock it as a skill. Godspeed.

Don't reset, bro. Malth is easy as pie. You bum rush him and slash as fast as you can. Literally standing in front of him spamming B. You don't need no fancy special moves. You can kill him in no time. You can survive like two full assaults from him, that means fucking up twice, which is a lot.

I tried that game recently too because of Ragebound. It's the kind of game where if it didn't have a reputation as a good game and I just randomly bought it back in the day, I would have asked for a refund. Because it looks glitchy, janky and defective if you don't have anyone telling you it's intentional. You walk forward and a bunch of enemies spawn at the same time. Then you walk a step backwards and they all despawn, but a bunch of other enemies spawn instead. It works well in practice once you understand what's happening and I'm glad I stuck with the game but I wonder how many dropped it.

I really enjoy the instances in ninja gaiden where you're faced with a new enemy spawn and you have the security at your back to stop and think out the pattern while dodging in place so to speak, any individual screen can feel like its own little puzzle scenario and I dont think that would necessarily be the case without the luxury of constant repeating patterns.

One major difference between 3 and the other 2 is the perspective. All surfaces are completely flat, there's no surface to see. This in addition to Ryu's new floatiness and jumping arc is due to the vertically scrolling sections that the other 2 didn't have. It's fascinating to me that such major changes can be made from a simple design decision back then.

Something a lot of people don't know is that NG3 is supposed to take place between NG1 and 2. This was made clear in the jap release, but not elsewhere. Didn't help that Nintendo Power and others didn't make this clear either, so 3 was thought of as the chronological end of the classic trilogy. It led to confusion, at least for me, because the Dragon Sword disintegrates into energy and revives Irene at the end of 2, so in 3 he couldn't be wielding the Dragon Sword anymore.

People shit on the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for the SNES, and they are wrong calling it a low effort port of NES games. But it was the version that I played the most until I got my hands on NES carts and emulators. Going from the SNES port to NES wasn't too different, but 3 had the most differences. For one, the double damage wasn't in the SNES version. At first, I thought that I had a bugged NES cart. But no, that's just the way it was. One other difference was the music. A see a lot of people shit on the SNES remixes, but I know for a fact that not all of them are bad. Not all of them are accurate either. Take this track for this stage in the two versions.

Pic related is my biggest problem with NG3's continuity. It proposes that the ruins in NG1 were actually a dimensional warship that can fly like a goddamn Final Fantasy airship. On one hand, thank you devs for trying something new, but on the other hand, fuck you for retrospectively ruining other games. The big problem with this is that at the end of the game, we get to see both the ship, and the Castle Rock Fortress collapse, but they explicitly say that the Fortress and the ship are the same thing. Fucking how?

There are two ways to beat the middle boss (Jaquio) without taking a hit. One by keeping the slash attack, the other by dodging his fireballs which is easier than you think, but stress wrecks most inexperienced players.
There is another secret way to beat him that is easier than both of those methods....
