I know you're joking but the idea of being expected to sit and observe an enemy in an MMX game is so fucking funny. Like the designers missed the memo that they weren't making a classic Megaman game, they were making an entry in the charge shot spam Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off series

This enemy would be an abomination even in the classic series. There's no classic game with enemies where you have to sit and do nothing until they let you pass.

i wanna say you're supposed to dash past it when it's going into you. either way though they barely do any damage even without the armor upgrade so it's not the end of the world if you get hit is it?

You can get past the laser consistently if you dash at just the right distance where your speed is at its highest when passing through. I'm convinced this is a glitch because there is no other obstacle in the entire series that relies on the imperceptible difference in speed between the start of the dash and the end of the dash.

X3 has problems, but over all I'd say it is stays a fun experience due to the solid foundation it is built on. That said, you will have a better time if you ignore the buster "upgrade" entirely
Anonymous No.11971898
>>11971565 (OP)
You can get past the laser without waiting and there are very few of those throughout the game. X3's enemy design issues lie in many of them being interchangeable in terms of behavior and very basic, you can ignore or use charge shots against most of them and not bother while X1-X2 enemies were placed in ways that would bait you into getting close and getting hit by an attack/another enemy. X1-X2 also don't punish you for getting hit as much, so most would say that they're easier, but they're way more interesting than X3 once you stop relying on upgrades as much. One of the coolest segments in X2 is in Crystal Snail, where there's a cramped upwards slope with bats and a block at the end that slides down. The bats respawn when you go backwards after reaching the block, so a careless player will be punished, but you can still be aggressive with the bats as long as you're skilled enough or know which weapons to use.

I've been dashing to get past those lasers since the 90s, when I was a kid. I figured that's what you're supposed to do, because if just waiting were intended to be the only way to avoid damage, they'd just have it cycle between damaging laser and entirely off, as opposed to having any sort of scanning mode at all. Dashing past in the narrower hallway is harder, and if you're really concerned about getting damaged, then maybe wait.
If you really want an irritating dash (or in this case slide) to avoid the lasers mechanic, go complain about the inside the sandcrawler stage in Super Star Wars, now THAT shit was frustrating.

Let me tell you my mindset going into the X series. I played every NES MM game and I liked all of them. While I played through these games, I was excited, because I thought "man, there are so many of these great games in this series, and there's still the X games to play, which are supposed to be even better! 8 more great games!!" I went into the games with a positive bias and expected to like them, and I was not influenced by anybody on the internet saying they were bad. I came to believe they were bad completely independently, and so my level of scrutiny is more trustworthy than 6 year old Pablo who thought it was good because you can dash upwards like this retard >>11973043

There is no discernible difference in speed. To the eyes of the average player, X starts at max dash speed until he stops. That's also how every Megaman game has always worked because there is never any inertia in movement with the exception of ground movement in MM1 and MM2. Megaman might as well be the poster boy for binary movement in platformers.

I don't care if I miss a heart container or some other upgrade. I don't bother getting all the subtanks, etc, anyway, because I don't need every single possible advantage to beat the final stages like most Xbabs. I care that my time is being wasted with almost 60 seconds of watching robots put crates on a platform. When I play X3, I will actually do Gravity Beetle first, even though you can only get a heart container in Gravity Beetle's stage from beating Blast Hornet, just so I don't have to sit through this. If I cared about heart containers, I would do Blast Hornet first. It's too bad Gravity Beetle's weapon is just like Galaxy Man's weapon if it was unusable dogshit. Maybe they could have had an actual boss fight there instead of shooting fucking crates

All levels but the first and the last IIRC are annoying gimmicky levels, with little in the way of standard platforming. The tag mechanic is just a gimmick too. Boss weapons are completely unnecessary other than for boss weaknesses since you're way too powerful by default anyway. If it wasn't for the better plot, graphics and soundtrack, I'd call it even worse than X7. I think people just forced themselves to like it because it came out after X7
