I'm afraid I bought XIi because I fell for the Ivalice grift. What a trash game and after the 90s, a trash series. Last FF I enjoyed was XI and that was more about the novelty of online play at the time. Last truly great one was probably 6 or 7.

my only problem with X-2, is that the only way to play it with monster capture on PS2 is International, which for some reason they neglected to include English text, like they did with FFX. So if you want monster capture you need to either play a tranny rom hack to add the English script, memorize moon runes, or play the demaster.

It's the same sentiment most players had at the time which is why X-2 started Squeenix's financial decline that they still haven't recovered from. The first official sequel to a numbered title, shat out barely two years later, and it's literally using the same locations and assets. Furthermore, it opens with girly women singing shitty J-pop in the PS2 era of edgy teens and young adults getting aged up sequels where formerly cute characters now swore and used guns. I'd say 75% of the intended audience took out the disc and returned it to Blockbuster immediately after the opening.

Also this is a nitpick but why the fuck introduce Paine? Lulu is right there. The idea of putting her giant tits and pale thighs in two dozen sexy outfits is a no-brainer. She already had chemistry with the other girls. But instead she sits offscreen doing nothing and we get an ugly white haired bulldyke? Fuck this game. Further proof that Squeenix has had no clue what their audiences want for over twenty years now.
