The Disney shit was just nostalgia. The game itself was great with a coming of age type of story where Sora had to let go of old friends and make new ones to go on new adventures. It came at the perfect time for kids entering their teen years such as myself. This is why a lot of guys never ended up sticking with this series. Especially since it took almost 15 years for the third to come out.

This exactly. 1 and to an extent 2 are great arpgs for teens or preteens and works really well if you have nostalgia for Disney and/or final fantasy. Though, you definitely don't need to have that nostalgia in order to enjoy the story. I still think it's one of the better stories that portrays darkness and lightness in a real tangible way, interconnected with the ether itself.

I actually love this idea. If I had the money to hire a dev team of ex ps2, Xbox, and GameCube guys who were top of their game then w some younger talent to help and learn the ropes of art, I’d absolutely do this and release it as a ps2/xbox/gamecube title.

I loved the gameplay of this game and the worlds but the story and cringe voice acting was bad even for my child self. The idea that you change costumes or forms in each world, new abilities, smoothness of fighting, sound effects and music were all good.
