It leaves a strong first impression to the new player, but the more I play Classicvanias, the more I realize this is one of the lesser entries.

I agree, the games leaves a great first impression due to the animations, sprite work and controls being excellent...

Aside from its presentation Rondo does one thing well though and that's boss fights. But boss fights alone don't make a game. The levels are mostly bland except from maybe the ship and the last 2 levels.

It's harder than CV1 and Rondo though, especially the last couple chapters. Plus hard mode is a good bump harder, but of course you never played that.

This is a forced meme. There was never a real debate about Rondo vs X. People just played what they could.

Why was it forced? It was done by people priviliged enough to own Rondo, in order to style on the "plaebians".

Every time you bring up how unique Rondo is, even if it is derogatory, you are repeating the words of spoiled and evil men.

That's pretty much every KCE Tokyo game. Rondo of Blood, Rocket Knight Adventures, SotN, HoD/Aria, the PS2 Castlevanias, etc etc. They are all the kind of games with smooth movement and easy difficulty so that everyone goes like "Wow I'm a badass! This is the best game EVER!" when they play for a few minutes, but in reality the games are pretty shallow for the most part. They are an all show/no real substance studio.

Notice how the Rondo denialist is the biggest pseud spammer on this board. He only hates good games.
