The notion of conscious creative choices is so alien to some consumers and/or ngmi's that they are capable of interpreting the results as a shortcoming to feel discerning regardless of how well documented their conceit is.

Anyway, let's not make this a Shinkiro-only thread.

"Conscious" is a long way away from "tasteful", friend. In simple terms, Shinkiro's art is fucking uncanny. You don't have to know art to see how off-putting his shit looks, and I guarantee I know art better than you do.

The problem is most idiots who parrot about "sameface syndrome" paint is as the artist lacking the ability to avoid it. They need to believe it's a shortcoming because otherwise the matter would be at the very least a matter of opinion, and their personal worldview relies on telling themselves that whatever they don't like is wrong by definition.

Japanese box arts from the late 80's and early 90's were the greatest box arts ever made.

Especially shmups, back then they evoked the vastness and wonder of space, massive structures and ships, strange and unbelievable monsters, will kino like this ever be achieved again?

1979 Galaxian. OLD arcade flyer, but I can't be the only one who likes this older generation retro.

I hope it doesn't happen like you say. When you see some of these covers, they are like actual fine art, like not even illustrations. Paint and water color, you need a true artist for that.

Pic related, Hiro Isohno, the guy who made this classic is an actual real artist commissioned for the game. Or maybe they just used one of his paintings. He has many of the style. Posting high quality xboxhueg jpg.

They're being dramatic, Falcom just uses anime style in their art these days. I mean, even their old games that had traditional-looking promotional art had anime-style portraits, so it makes sense. I can understand thinking it's a downgrade though.
