Which romhack is a must?
The manulowe bugfixes? The bugfixing and uncensoring patch? Or the Chrono Trigger Complete that is a blend between SNES and DS translation?

The original SNES game has a lot of minor grammar, spelling, and formatting errors, as well as certain gameplay bugs that were later fixed in the DS version.

None of them, just shut up and play the game

i played some 'more authentic' re-translation about 10 years ago.

honestly, it was kind of shit. Ted Woolsey did a good job. yeah it censors alcohol and religion, who cares. games should be TRANSLATED, and that includes dialogue that reads like native English.

Oh yeah, the notorious buggy mess that crashes all the time and contains glaring typos and translation errors, Chrono Trigger.

Imagine fucking caring about this. Holy shit. Any fanmade thing you apply will be far more AIDS-ridden.

This.
Turn off cutscenes if they take you out of the experience, and ignore Arena of the Ages and Lost Sanctum Dimensional Vortex post-game is okay.

the uncensoring isn't a re-translation, and chrono trigger complete is at worst the DS version (but it's a hybrid)

just looked through romhacking.net and i think it was this 2007 one (so maybe closer to 20 years agp ;__;):
https://www.romhacking.net/?page=translations&game=268&languageid=12
comments explain the gripes with it, and there have been two newer efforts to fix it, then fix the fixes.

fuck 'literal' translations. i can't think of any way they are better, to anyone (if you KNOW Japanese, you can just play the original, for the original experience?)

Imagine thinking these changes are egregious in the slightest. It's literally just most inoffensive purist grammar and spelling fixes you could ask for

>- A sentence in the cathedral sequence, 600 AD, has been capitalized:
>BEFORE: "It's almost my shift. / I hate pretending to be human... / it's so repulsive."
>AFTER : "It's almost my shift. / I hate pretending to be human... / It's so repulsive."

that's not a separate sentence. it's a clause in the same sentence.

first fucking example of 'fixing a minor error' and they've introduced one.

If any of those sentences would lessen your enjoyment of the game, you are a mentally ill faggot.

'...' when separated by two independent clauses acts as a period ESLkun.

>Several instances where speaker assignments don't occur in capital letters (e.g. "Woman", "Kino", "Dalton"), as well as one or two missing ("KINO") or inconsistent ("OLD MAN"/"ELDER", "HEADMAN"/"CHIEF") speaker assignments.
>Several instances where there are spaces between a number and a "G" (when talking about money). Since there's no space in the menu, after battles, and even in most of the dialogues, this is an issue of consistency.
>Dozens of missing or misplaced indentions and punctuation marks as well as wrong capitalizations. You'll find examples of these fixes listed above (like the Crono and Mother Brain ones), but there's heaps more!
These are the biggest ones

Probably ZeaLitY's braindead-retarded text-editor implementation of the kWhazit rough-translation analysis, which was meant more for academic reasons than actually being playable.

>script hybrid hack
These are the gayest thing ever. Like, actually even gayer than the above. Just commit or gtfo
