I'm still rocking my telescopic controller setup, been thinking of getting a dedicated handheld lately, but can't justify the cost considering that what I've got right now just works well for me. At times I feel like having everything in few devices is ideal, at other times I feel like separating work and play between different devices would be best, especially due to battery and stuff, I might get a dedicated one when the money's less tight, time will tell, though honestly I'd probably miss my tablet's 10' screen...

Did that, I regret it. The Rp4 pro screen is tiny, for anything Ps2 o android games you really have to squint your eyes and in some cases, like shooters, you can't see shit. I want your reviews of using winlator/gamehub for your android handled (and specify which handled you use)

My main goal is more or less to play everything:
- switch, 3ds,ds,wii,ps1,ps2 (not really any games in mind, so maybe not), and all consoles that came before
- old pc games (before 2012-2015), not AAA focused, but still some title in minds
- new pc game, mostly 2d, but some 3d yet not the big heavy titles

also did you try drm protected games (persona 3 reload for example) on steam via winlator/gamehub ?

Obviously I meant owning/buying them, I know that nowadays denuvo is actually "working" to prevent piracy
(yeah I know it's more about the scene being a one-man-show with Empress and nobody else stupid/devoted enough to waste time trying to bypass anything instead getting an actual legal job)

I meant drm as how good or bad, windows emulator + drm (slowing performance) is

But since I was stupid enough to buy 3 drm games.

(Persona 3 Reload is alright, but nothing to actually justify buying it instead of emulating an old version with an improvement rom hack. I was expecting additional story content from the original, like Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal. Not some obscure additional dlc that doesn't seem to feature the main character.)

(Sonic Frontiers is a joke. The bad idea isn't the open world but that they implement BOTW mechanics without even understanding why.)

Then another which was actually worth it, but I would rather not mention it to avoid spoilers of any kind, which I somehow managed to succeed.
___

Unless some rare drm games, I would rather buy no-drm indie games (if they deserve it)

>PSP
Best thing for playing PSP games is an actual PSP. I posted a ratty old silver PSP2000 a few threads ago that I was going to put in a new white shell and put a thick glass lense into instead of the plastic. Here's how it went
>new white shell+frame looks great
>new white faceplate splits while removing plastic screen
>fffuuuuuu order pink shell instead
>new pink frame looks wack but faceplate is great
>successfully remove plastic and install glass lense
>surprisingly swap internals without fucking up ribbon cables
>both white and pink buttons are wack and do not fit/ have off-center printing
>use original silver instead
>IT IS ASSEMBLED AND WORKS boot up
>left trigger is stuck on
>X is hair trigger
>open and close another 7 times to fix trigger and shave tiny bits off the X trigger membrane
>reassemble
>IT IS ASSEMBLED with fingerprints on the underside of the new glass
>FFfffffuuuuuu
>patiently take apart for 19th time and clean screen and bottom side of lense with isopropyl and microfiber cloth
>IT IS DONE
It's updated and chock full of isos and emulators and I couldn't be happier. Panel gaps are pretty minimal. The thick glass gives weight and heft. Colors are a bit fruity but it has a My Little PSP vibe. If anyone has any questions about re-shelling these things ask away. Thanks for reading my blog

It is once you try to play any 4:3 content or any android game that usually expects a phone screen bigger than 4.7 (the text is really small). I would say that for these kind of devices 5.5 is the minimum to have a confortable experience (for 16:9 aspect ratio).

I bought a chinkheld BECAUSE I have a 3DS. Emulators on it are extremely bad (what little runs anyway), ergos are crap, screen is crap, sliders are crap. It's really only any good for crippled GBA.

I love my (2)DS but it really does feel dated hardware-wise, even a lot of 3DS titles lag on it. I'd get a new 3ds XL but at that point why not just get a chinkheld that's more powerful with a much more beautiful screen

There is also software to recalibrate TN panels to look exactly like the IPS now, but I've never had to use it. I would agree that the psp go screen is superior, but I would never think the Nintendo screens look like shit for the 3ds

They looked like shit when they came out. I have both a n3DS XL and a OLED Vita, no one in their right mind would think that ninentdo screens were better than Sony or even β€œgood enough.” Nintendo has a history of crapping on customers in regard to hardware, I can’t understand this recent revisionism about the 3DS screens. They were shit and everyone complained about them, at least here on 4chan.

NTA but I had rose tinted glasses when it came to the old nintendo handhelds. When I first got the DS Lite I thought the screens were godly. It wasn't until 10 years later and I get a hand on a PSP and I couldn't believe my eyes at the difference. Even the 3DS screens were so dogshit looking back.

>Can't turbo or rewind.
>Can't save state.
>Can't easily take saves off forcing you to use JKSM or a flashcart and then manually transfer it out instead of just manually transferring it out.
>Flashcart SD card capacity is way lower than what you can use in these devices though I think 3DS ones addressed this.
>If you actually do want to emulate something else even the N3DS is beyond terrible for it.
>You can take advantage of upscaling to enable black magic on a good chunk of games for the DS and to deal with the aliasing on 3DS games.
>DS and 3DS both have terrible ergonomics.
>DS and 3DS both have terrible screens though the screen lottery on the 3DS does mean you have a chance of some good ones.
>Access to DSi games without having to deal with twl_nand.
>Access to RetroAchievements if you're into that which is what a lot of people wanted from the Magic X Zero 40 and it couldn't deliver.

There's a reason why many people want an all-in-one 3DS/DSi/DS device that can upscale a bit compared to buying a 3DS, and even nowadays the 3DSes are going for stupid prices into the several hundreds.
