I don't hesitate to credit feed when playing an arcade game that I consider 'unfair'. I don't feel bad about it either.

When an arcade game is too unfair, even for arcade standards, I just drop it instead of credit feeding, playing it just makes me mad and getting to the end will mean nothing. Sengoku 3 comes to mind, cool game, if only it wasn't such a quarter muncher slop balance-wise.

I'm kind of the opposite when it comes to this kind of stuff because I'm obsessed with making the experience as authentic as possible. The first time I played through earthbound I was playing it on the an emulator and there's a part where you have to stand in one place for like 5 minutes and I could have just fast forwarded the emulator but instead I just left the game running while I went into another room and made a pop tart
So my sin is being extremely autistic

Ok, here i go, I think only the following 4:

1. I have used cheats in resident evil 1, resident evil 2 and resident evil 3 to have infinite bullets, so i could play "trigger happy" style.

2. I have masturbated to the sexy fanservice female characters of the fighting games.

3. I have used "save states" in very hard games like ninja gaiden.

4. I have loved to punch women, blacks, LGBTs and other "oppressed" groups in "beat em up games".

If I get stuck somewhere in an action game (e.g. can't make it past a certain part of a level, or defeat a boss) I look up a longplay online to see how someone else did it.

The vast majority of """longplays""" on youtube are TAS.

You're not looking at how someone else does it, you're looking at how someone did by reloading savestates over and over and then automatically editing out the reloads.
It's often so fucking obvious too, like they pull things moves that are 1 in a hundred over and over that would have taken a speedrunner 1000 hours to get consistantly (after he "trained" with savestates too anyway).

The game suddenly goes from fairly easy to balls hard in the last area. I ended up just using save states. One of these days I want go back to do it legit.

My gaming sin: I use RGB and I like it over composite for 2D games. That's apparently a sin in the hobbyist forum known as /vr/, in which you have to reproduce the shittest conditions possible, unlike all other hobbyist hobbies

Retro games were superior to current games in all replayability, challenge, etc. Modern games are made for casuals because if the games are easier there is greater profit, that's why there are many movie games today. Today's games are not fun

The whole point of an arcade is building the skill needed to be able to progress or complete it without putting quarters in, no shame in using as many credits as you need if it's your first playthrough and you're not familiar with the game but if it demands credits no matter how good you do you may need to check the difficulty switches or it could just be a poorly designed game.

1. I exclusively emulate, and I use RetroArch only to do that on all of my devices of choice.
2. On RetroArch, I use and enjoy the XMB UI due to PS3 and PSP nostalgia.
3. I use exaggerated CRT shaders with glow and curve effects..
4. I'll give into save states and/or cheat codes sometimes when I'm filtered.
5. My main devices for playing retro video games nowadays are my tablet and smartphone.

I played Megaman 3, tried to jump over the first pit. An enemy sprung up and dropped me straight into the pit. I think that's all the information I needed from the game and haven't booted up a Megaman game again.

Despite playing for over a decade or so, never have I ever fully beaten an "Iron Man" Fire Emblem run. A run in which when your unit dies, its gone Forever. Not only that, but you cant restart, or save state scum. I've been playing Fire Emblem 7 the most and I've never played it the "proper" way, ie not restarting or save stating. Also, I have no idea what to do on game overs, or when a lord or main character dies. I usually just restart the game and Ive been doing that for a decade, still cant beat it that way.

Same here, i usually play games in easy mode. Also, games like metal gear solid or final fantasy i sometimes skip dialogues because they end being too long and boring.

In Starcraft 1 and in warcraft 3 i often use the money cheat.

I broke my copy of Sonic Schoolhouse because my friend wanted to.

Even though I play a ton of retro vidya, there are very few games I enjoy. More so than anything made post 2008, but the most fun I've had was with the surface level titles (ie: Mega Man and Sonic). Most games I just force myself through because I don't like them on the backlog.

I'm happy that I've played the game if I get to the end of the last level. I don't really care about any completionist stuff, or whether I 100% it.

I'm also perfectly happy to use emulation savestates to get to this point if the game doesn't have them, has a save system I judge to be annoying, or only has passwords.

I dont finish 90% of games I start. even when Im really enjoying them. I get near the end, sometimes right up to the final boss, and just stop. most of the time I wont even attempt the last boss at all, or try once and drop the game. I have no idea why im like this. for me to actually finish a game, it basically has to be one of my favorites of all time. and even then, half the times I play through it, I wont actually go all the way. if theres a post game, forget about it. theres like 3 games ever made i like enough to 100%. there are some games Ive played through 3 or more times, have gotten all the way to final area, but have never finished it. sometimes I will drop it 75% through. but almost never see the credits. recently I played parasite eve and vagrant story for the first time and was so impressed I actually beat them (gave up on their post game, to be fair they are a total slog). but then I tried getting through dqvii and legend of dragoon and went right back to my old ways, after putting in 50+ hours in each. I just did another ffvii run and now Im on the third disc doing random sidequests, and I can feel myself moving on already. I hate it.

when I play dkc2 I save scum the bullshit boss fights and levels i hate. the big bee boss fight for example.

I like 3D games more than 2D games

for a long time I thought crt shaders were retarded and sharp pixels were just obviously superior until a few /vr/ threads made me see the light. now raw pixels give me physical repulsion. I grew up with crts.

I love upscaling/uprezing and widescreen hacks. anything low poly and even gen 6 just looks so much better at 3x resolution. didnt really think this one was controversial until I started coming here.

I rubbed it to coco from Crash Bandicoot 3 before I learned even how to jerk off.

I use the all weapons cheat in Hexen constantly because the centaurs and underwater monsters are IMPOSSIBLE to deal with without a Wraithverge.

1) In eons of my beautiful life, I installed Baldur's Gate I/II, Planescape Torment, Warcraft 2, Homeworld, Ground Control, Lionheart, Septerra Core, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Kichohou Rance, Rance III (classic), and Temple of Elemental Evil, but I never finished them. I use speedhacks in all JRPGs and inevitably use them to break grinding.
I enjoy their exploration and unique narrative aspects, but I genuinely am not able to get into the combat like some other people (there's a cool autist I saw on /vrpg/ who does really fun setups for FF games and I just don't have the mentality of that).

In my Fallout 4 playthroughs - I basically use the Minutemen to BRING THE FUCKING SWORD and instill a Fourth Reich. Then I segregate my settlements by race and further divide them by who provides what resource, etc. where every settler is basically an indentured servant, or serf. Then I customize my army via item duplication and build my Castle, from which I rule as the Supreme overlord of the Commonwealth. Of course, crucial to this strategy is going aggro against every faction towards the end of the game. What's awesome is Fallout 4 can really be any game for anyone.

Everything changed post 2016 elections, the world and society hasn't been the same, and this isn't even me going "orange man bad"- I'm not even American.

You should do a low level run in FFVIII. You get the Diabolos GF early in disk 1, grind just enough to learn the "no encounters" ability then spend the rest of the game with zero overworld encounters and upgrade your stats by modding cards instead. Turns it into a weird sort of sierra-ish adventure game but with boss fights and a card minigame.

1 Since I was a child I hated playing as the guys in horror games, i dont know why but when it comes to horror i preffer female character, maybe because i want to protect them? Jill/claire/heather were my crushes as a kid, years later i can say barry/james/leon are cool but chris still is boring beyond the boulder punching.
2 The doctor octopus carnage final level gave me nightmares, same goes for the baby enemy in SH4, there is something about the SH4 intro that didnt let me sleep for a week and i was too much of a pussy to play the game alone.
3 i needed a guide to beat or even understand digimon world, i like mistery but at times that games was obtuse for the sake of being weird and obtuse.
