Flashcarts N Emulation
So, my old Super Everdrive is pretty much dead, it doesn't boot up and when it does it's garbled screens, and the 2 times it booted up tonight, it halted at loading a game.

Mine was bought in 2013, how long do these things last?

Have you checked a real cart and made sure it's not your SNES?
Anonymous No.11996194 >>11996198
could be the SNES, the older everdrives did have some voltage issues rarely
current ones are properly voltage regulated, not telling you to go buy a new fxpak pro (current cart)
but yeah check the SNES first with a real cart, I always have a few random carts for each console laying around to trouble shoot, helped me recently actually

oh and I usually pick a first party game just for the sake of control

I tested 2 actual SNES carts and they worked just fine, but my Everdrive doesn't.

is it pic related or chinesium
try a different sd card though
it does read and write to the card and that could be the issue if the cards time is up
i doubt it but

All everdrive are "chinesium". the shells and parts are manufactured in china and only assembled in ukraine

Perhaps off-topic, but I have SNES and N64 I'm looking to purchase some flashcarts for. The N64's best option seems to be the Summercart for around 50 bucks. Not sure what to get for the Snes, any recs? Also does the summercart work with the expansion pak?
Anonymous No.11996547

Summercart for N64, SD2SNES for SNES.
>Also does the summercart work with the expansion pak?
Of course it does.

I will reformat the card and see IF THAT is the issue, because I tried to boot the damn cart with no SD card and it rarely boot, always black screen.

I should mention my SNES had the AC port broken like many but it used to work.
Anonymous No.11997474
>>11996140 (OP)
It’s definitely the sd card that failed not the cart itself. Flash a new sd card and itll be fine.

its the sd card DUMMY

Oh really, I did formatted properly, FAT32, installed the corresponding iOS for V2 (mine is old), and still no boot and sometimes I got garbled screens.

And yes I DEEP cleaned the contacts of both my cart and my SNES.

But I did mention that my AC connector is broken and sometimes that also gives me problems.
Anonymous No.11997536 >>11997562
can any flash carts actually damage a console?

You need a new sd card not just reformatting the one you already were using.

Supposedly yes some flashcarts and multicarts can run high voltage and break shit

And here's the proof.

>>11997549
Well, i did just that, i had some spare cards, properly formatted, same brand (kingstone), same shit.

Well, I gave up, I did run tests, and I am still convinced that my flashcart pcb and NOT the SD card fucked up, how do I know that?

Because I tried 3 different SD cards
All FAT32
With the correct iOS (V2 Everdrive)
Correct Paths

And I am sure that the SD cards weren't the problem, BECAUSE I JUST RUN THE ROMS ON EMULATOR FROM THESE DAMN THINGS, AND NO PROBLEM.

IT IS NOT THE FUCKING SD CARD NOR MY SNES, I clean and run my old carts and they worked fine, even the chip based ones!

MY EVERDRIVE IS DEAD!

I think his is fucked anon, looking at the video he uploaded
The thing is I doubt it's very common so it'll be hard to discern the issue

Its possible the flash memory wore out, each time you write to it, it wears out the oxide layer between cells. You can get a fake one for $20 so no big deal.
It could still be the snes, the menu uses the hi rez interlaced mode and if your cartridges don't use that then they might not fail.
Anonymous No.11998806 >>11999025
>>11996140 (OP)
probably corrupted flash chip. they have a limited amount of write cycles before they start shitting the bed.
Anonymous No.11999025 >>11999270 >>11999292
>>11998806
But I didn't use it that many times?

What was the actual limit?

Also mine was an old Super Everdrive from 2013, the pcb said V2, it didn't used hires menus.

Is that the best you can do? A WERKS4MII shitpost?
Anonymous No.11999185
I see a chink FX PRO on amazon, would that be good enough for SA1 and Super FX? I have old school flash carts from the 00s for Game Boy and NDS and a Famicom Game Doctor.

This is false, the shells are made in Ukraine, when the war started Krikzz said he had to pause production on some items because the factory that made the shells was damaged or destroyed, I forget which

>>11999025
If you got a Chinesium ever drive they probably sourced used flash or flash that failed QA, that's why they're so cheap. You get less write cycles as a result, or they just die sooner
Also flash memory needs to be used periodically, it deteriorates if it sits unused

I can do a lot better by pointing out that was an obvious joke. And I can top that by pointing out that your failure to see that indicates you're so dumb it's likely there's nothing wrong with your ED.
