yeah, it's pretty awesome. i'm glad someone was able to salvage everything off of these discs and make it run modern hardware.

I love emulation ever since I was a kid and I hope it never dies.

SCOTUS restricting unofficial emus sounds not probable but possible

that'd be nice but there's no need. if we used nintendo as an example, they have been fighting against emulators for over 20 years, got nowhere. it's much easier for them to use/abuse the dmca instead to target github accounts. it's like low hanging fruit. microsoft will always buckle but the old owners didn't. the emulators still exist, so does the code. it's like pushing diarrhea uphill with a stick. something needs to be done so such projects based on reverse engineering are left alone - no matter if they are able to pirated software or not. it's a shitty situation.

I'm waiting for a github alternative for emus to gather steam, it feels like a ticking time bomb

Should I use a CRT filter with native resolution or increase the internal resolution when emulating PS2 games? I can't decide.

The only thing to disscuss is how lazy and retarded current gens are.
>check current megadrive game.
>seems like a cool game.
>before that boomers cracked their 2 previous games
>nugens say they are going to get the game working.
>make a whole new emu for that game, then make another whole new emu for other game.
>but muuhh you shon't understand, cracking the rom will ruin it forever since it ishn't original copy, and it has an audio chip to give it CD audio quaility.
>game audio is the same as any megadrive game and the chip is just excuses to not do the job.
Emulation is dead currently and nothing will change it.
Still waiting those roms cracks of paprium, earthion, the secret of the four winds, the last one shouldn't be dificcult since life on earth and life on mars by same developer got the roms cracked even the switch megadrive game exclusive xiapmei got dumped and cracked.

Is easier to change code on emu the cracking a game.

I was surprised to learn how dependent on per game hacks emulation still is
Anonymous No.12001464
>>12001306
Not even that since emulation reached a point when it stopped needing per game hacks but then came the retro indie devs with the whole " i need muuhh anti piracy code otherwise they will run the rom on emulators" and make a shitfest game that barelly can run on official hardware because of their faggottry then we have the whole other side of faggotty of "muuhhh rom has to be untouched to work, you don't have a good pc/mister/original hardware, well is your fault we need to preserve the dump as it was and not change the roms to run on old emulators that are 98% accurate with improvements to rom size limit" which is any game released latelly specially by fonzie.
>you don't understand it needs the audio dump because..... scumzie said it has CD audio quality on cartridge.
>game audio is inferior to mega cd games in quality even inferior to streets of rage 3 bgm.
>other game release, same excuse as before of having custom chip for audio.
>again audio and bgm quality is inferior.
If it was like you say of dependant per game a 98% accuracy emu or a 100% accuracy emu should be able to run those modern games since they would have most call and circuit emulated yet they can't run them with errors activated by the anyi piracy and not because the emulator is bad.
As some said on forum "if we are going to preserve something we need to preserve something that works and can run even on old emulator and not a dump of doubtfull quality that won't run" which was a good argument made by atari age ceo when some complained of the forum users making hacks to run life on earth and life on mars on good old gens32 surreal.
For example an emu that can pass all the tests of megadrive is blastem yet funny thing is blastem won't run some modern games despite accuracy with some shitty error.

>it feels like a ticking time bomb
it really is, anon. things have changed a lot over the last few decades and dmca has emboldened such clown corporations to silence people and to restrict information and research, which only benefits corporations and the wealthy that can afford to defend themselves. every other poor bastard doesn't have a chance but when you look at the situation of github, these developers making emulators and getting hit - it's self inflicted. you can't trust those fags. people need to stop relying on such garbage services and host their own shit.

Well most that get hit are scummy greedy bastards that think they can get away asking for money on patreon or just because got a sponsorship from intel or amd.
For example the switcg emu devs, while some defend them i just go with "you got what you deserve" because if they weren't greedy bastards hiding updates and patches to run latest version of game they would still be around.
What makes it funny is all those scummy forks "our emu is the original give us support on patreon" that are taken down for being greedy yet you realize how stupid people is.
>x group members of sued emu decided to make new emu check source on github and releases on patreon, you need the latestwindows drm and intel cpu to run this because our sponsorship.
>everyone "wohhh take our money this isn't a scam".
>shutdown after a week.
Meanwhile
>hey i uploaded a version of yuxu, citra whatever here, this version has lot of extras (files needed to run) which dissapeared from internet, the emu isn't last version but was the latest one able to run on any windows and had better performance.
>everyone : this is scam, is infested with virus (didn't download or tested and just posted random page result claiming it is) at least post the original those extras aren't needed (bios, firmware, keys, fonts, etc).

completely agree, anon. i think it's always a very bad idea to take any money at all, not even a blowjob from a friendly local whore, if it's to support the project. just not worth the risk, looks bad. are the intentions on making money or love for reverse engineering and development? corporations will see: you cunts are making money off of us? fuck you. etc.

That's one of the reason emulators are kinda stuck.
>grab desmume nightly
>works worse then fork x432 or older version.
No issue
>grab latest update of emu
>several games won't run because author don't promote piracy so newest releases got excluded from it.
Try other hyped stuff
>download the shitty mutiemu.
>waste time setting up (nag support screen pressed by error).
>grab romset of snes.
>none of them are detected
>go to their pisscord posting details and sha of some rom
>seems you grabbed a rom from a pirate site we won't support piracy, you have to buy your own games and dump them.
