I still play this online, has a pretty active community still for such an old and somewhat obscure game.

We play this at every lan party. I made a map which is just halong port with stuff moved around in the middle of a thunderstorm. It's fun as hell. Its honestly what I look forward to the most at our lans.

Vietnam games are weird.
Most games are more or less in milsim territory. Kind of like ghost recon was.
Even men of valor is and it is deffinitely not milsim.

I imagine most games posted here are gonna be FPSs and military sims. So here's Wild Guns before Wild Guns but about Vietnam instead of the old west. Discovered it the other day but didn't have time to play it much yet

very much so. NAM is often misunderstood as a straight-up shooter when it's actually way more about tactics and survival

Nah man, that's where you put on "You Really Got Me" again because you probably didn't get enough of it from the loading screen alone.

Loved this and Bad Company 2: Vietnam. Been hoping for years that Battlefield would revisit 'Nam but Hell Let Loose Vietnam looks like the next best thing.

it's kinda weird that the bad company 2 remake of veitnam didn't have planes when they clearly had them in 1943. like the prologue level of BC2's campaign was practically made with so much of 1943's assets that they put some of 1943's weapons in the BC2's multiplayer.

In these last 15 years I never seen second hand copy of this game neither in cashconverters, rebuy, game, gamestop or any flea markets. But I really want to try this game.

So many memories! Loading and white rabbit blasting. I actually didn't mind just jobbing on bots. Adding in your own music off HDD was incredible in it's era. I also got into some music because of it.

Is there an easy way to play that on 11? I remember the Mig being so OP because it also had a gun.

Vietnam is an example of a war that I had no idea was real outside of video games. So many great, creative games featuring it that I just never put to in together.

It's a bit strange how many Vietnam War games the US has made.

It's no surprise really, 80s media had Vietnam everywhere, all those movies set in Vietnam, the tv show NAM, and then loads of action / crime / thriller stuff had le deranged veteran archetype, even fucking Highlander 1. It was so overdone that by the 90s, it had become parody fodder. These games were made by the generation that grew up watching all this stuff. ALso, bump for based thread.

yes it can be brutal at times.

to survive... mind where you walk, take cover when you can, and unload the M60 into the jungle even if you don't directly see the enemy
