I tried to replay Metal Gear Solid 3 the other day, and I just can't do it. All I can think about is popping in my DVD of the 1993 Super Mario Bros. film.

That's interesting. From a game maker's perspective it probably felt frustrating and scary that consoles were starting to transition away from being exclusively game machines.

even if you're being generous, him having the skewed perspective of living through the physical media boom it's really just a dumb point. people had cable in 2001. you know what's really distracting? 60+ channels of jump in viewing. most people don't casually drop into a dvd, chances are it's going to be a movie that they've planned to dedicate a couple hours to.
