Just finished this yesterday and really enjoyed it. First point & click I've played.
What are some others I should scope out?
Some lesser known ones deserving more attention?

The art on this one looks phenomenal.
Remaster graphics look good but I kind of dig the original more.
Thanks for the rec.

Not really point and clicks but try Policenauts and Snatcher.

I'm curious about trying this as my first point and click too

Did you ever feel considerably lost or dumbfounded to the solution the game expected you to do?
Anonymous No.12000489 [Report]
>>12000435
Not really.
While I would say the first 2/3 is more well put together than the last 1/3 of the game, and it almost felt like things that should be clues were not registering as clues, the number of areas and npcs to talk to is really quite small.
This helps in that if you are ever unsure of where to go or what to do you should really only be spending minutes rather than hours stumbling upon something that will lead you back on the right path.

Love these old graphics. Didn't get to play these but they do remind me of my childhood.
>>12000204
I'll add these to the list. Thanks.

It's possible to die in this game, no?
Anonymous No.12000545 [Report] >>12000583
OP, try out Neverhood. It's peak comfy point n click, with claymation visuals and music. You might also need a pen and paper for some of the puzzles, and remember to save before you jump in the drain that says "don't jump in, you will die".

In a couple places, yes.

I take it this is abandonware? If so it might be a good place to start. Thanks for the recommendation.

Highly recommend beneath a steel sky. It's free and has a very interesting setting.

Lesser known choice is The Dig.
Was supposed to be a Spielberg movie, but was too ambitious so they made a game out of it instead.

Sophia Hapgood is such a good idea for an Indy foil-heroine.

I remember the first Gabriel Knight being very intriguing and engaging. I was so engrossed despite the outdated graphics that I felt to be part of the story.

It came from the desert is probably the best "point n click" I've ever played. It's more interactive than just point n click mechanics, but it's also in realt time. This makes every playthrough fairly different. Going to different places first or instead or waiting too long or going to early will net you different results and many different dialogue paths. It's a b movie tier spoof that has tons of great jokes, but also feels eerie in all the right ways.

I didn't know this game had an English translation. Decent game except for the bullshit labyrinth

Yeah its in English, apparently there's even an English talkie version but nobody ever found it..
And yeah fuck that labyrinth section, very obvious padding.

Just skip 3 and 4 where they went 3D. 1,2 and 5 are all very good.

Did Gabriel Knight actually look like this? Rhetorical question I guess. In my brain it was higher resolution. Your brain really has to fill in the details with that pixel art style. Was there ever higher res source art they downscaled?

It's good. The puzzles are fun and the meat of the game, like with other Legend games. I finished it without a guide though there were a few times I was stumped for a long time. The story is nice too but I haven't read the books so I can't say how well it adapts them.

Is the Shadowgate remake good? Does it have any bullshit deaths?

>>12005807
Man, I wish somebody would make more P&C games with that classic Coktel Vision artstyle.

Speaking of bullshit deaths, you could try the Legend of Kyrandia series. Never played 3, despite owning it for over a decade.

A year or so ago, I did a web search for that title as it had been stored in my brain ever since childhood and I would randomly remember it without any other details or context. Must have read about in in a vidya mag in the 90s because I'm sure I've never played it.
