Have to say, this game is pretty good

sly games suck such incredible dick, clear example of gameplay variety taking precedent over gameplay depth. the second was a huge improvement but even then it had almost no real platforming in favour of context sensitive prompts everywhere.

There's a lot of good furry games.

The ones that come to my mind right now are Rocket Knight Adventures and Sparkster, Klonoa, the Sonic franchise, Crash Bandicoot, the franchise you posted, the Pokemon and Digimon games, pic related, the Star Fox franchise, the Gex trilogy, Alien Soldier (The MC is a birdman), etc.

And then you have games with mostly humans and somes furry characters like Contra Hard Corps and Legend of Mana.

I also played and finished this game long ago.
It's extremely mediocre bordering with bad to be honest (the camera is awful and the stage design goes from ultra basic to needlessly obtuse with not much in between), but the characters' style and music were good enough for me to keep playing. Wouldn't recommend.

The Fuga series was an improvement at least regarding the challenge, but once you discover the best strategies yes, they feel kind of like a chore.

In their defense I imagine the first two Little Tail Bronx games (TC and Solatorobo) were CC2's attempt to make games for kids.
I also played their .Hack games back in the day (I specially enjoyed the G.U. saga) and saw what Asura's Wrath looked like when they were still in charge of it so I know they're capable of more.

The combat in Solatorobo is so easy most of the time, but I do like the robo parts system and the alternate Dahak types. The boss rushes and some of the arena challenges are tough too. It's a fun combat idea that doesn't get pushed far enough. Still, the adventure aspect is good and the world and writing are very charming. More or less feel the same about Tail Concerto and its platforming.

The craze over animal mascots was huge during AFAIK the mid 80s and 90s (although it started long before). Sport team mascots, video games, cereal boxes, etc.

Everyone I knew back in the day watched and loved Space Jam along the Looney Tunes, Tiny Toons, Chip & Dale: RR, Swat Katz, Biker Mice from Mars, Animaniacs, Ren & Stimpy and a long etc.
Then like all good things it faded out and was mostly replaced with something else (Xtreme stuff with human characters) around the mid 00s IIRC.
