What does rubberbanding look like in other non-racing games?
What is the equivalent to AI 'rubberbanding' as seen in racing games but in other genres such as RPGs, FPSs and RTSs?

every Monopoly g*me i've seen cheats the dice differently on each difficulty setting, because not much else is there. It's a trash board game. There are 29,030 better games according to BoardGameGeek

I know the Resident Evil remakes have a hidden level system where every time you do damage it goes up and when you take damage it goes down. There's some other variable too, but essentially when you play well, the level goes up.
The higher your "level", the harder it is to stagger enemies and the easier for them it is to grab you. So if you are too good, the game gives the enemies a boost, which I guess is sort of like rubber banding.

RPG - when you level up, every enemy levels up too.

Recently played MK2 arcade, though this apparently isn't just an arcade thing. If a harder AI opponent is downed and you jump towards them, they will skip their animations and immediately be put in an upright position to counter. Alternatively they'll just skip standing altogether and do an immediate air counter. Aside from that you have your attack connecting (clearly within an opponents body), but the game ignoring that so they can counter you. I've also seen my animations be stalled so an AI can counter, I'll just pretend that's an emulation issue as it didn't happen often.

Any hidden hand gambling game like poker, blackjack or mahjong. There's always a very real chance they just spawn in a decent hand when you get close to a winning state. Though I guess that doesn't look like anything as it is hidden.

RE4, Godhand, FF8, PE2 (game has harder battles later on depending on whay you do), MGS3 Sorrow sequnce (harder depending on how many things you killed), Max Payne (lowers aim assist and other settings if you are doing well), Star Fox and other games that unlock harder areas if you complete certain challenges, Tony Hawk and Dave Mirra competitions where competitors score higher if you do, BMXXX was really broken in that they would score 99.8 and shit, that pissed me off hard, Tetris had adaptive difficulty, Resident Evil 1 would have more difficult situations depending on what you do, like being saved or having to fight the Snake boss twice, Zanac had 'AI' that adapted difficulty in the 80's, some games throw you an extra item or something if you are doing bad, MGS1 had moments where they would call you on the Codec to give you a hint if you died too much or got stuck, and you get rescued if you can't escape the prison.

NBA Jam is famous for rubberbanding. If you do well the first half the enemy becomes a nearly unstoppable force in the second.

There are ways to do it right... Like when you repeatly fail a certain race and restart.
Such bullshit. I hate rubberbanding so fucking much. Just make changeable difficulty levels you fucking pricks!

For an RTS? You would see the AI get free spawns or something. Rubberbanding is afterall giving the race car magically more speed then yours.

God Hand lets you dogeza to reset the difficulty at any time (outside hard mode which locks the difficulty at Die).
