War of the Monsters has unlockable conversions for every character, some characters get two (and one character gets a male to female swap)

Earliest example I know is Spider-Man vs The Kingpin for the Sega Master System. After you defeat Venom in the sewers you can dive in the spot where you knocked him out and emerge wearing his suit.

Soul Edge/Blade. The Playstation version has it's own additional exclusive costumes as well, and they're all pretty distinct.

Whenever I play San Andreas I just mod Niko Bellic into it and it comes with clothes as well
