Yup, much of Paper Mario's artstyle was based off of Yoshi's Island until Sticker Star which sucked out all the soul for the standard NSMB designs.

This game is absolute peak. From the artstyle to the music. The athletic theme has the ability to even put MY miserable ass into a happy mood.

Going from late NES games to SNES was underwhelming to say the least. Only with DKC did I finally feel the SNES was offering something new and worthwhile.
this is a game I always get a feeling I want to play, but then I remember it's not about platforming it's about throwing eggs and collecting annoying shit.

I'm not a zoomer and YI was actually my favorite Mario when I was a teen, but I replayed it like ten years ago after playing SMB3 and SMW and it wasn't as enjoyable. The levels had a tendency to overstay their welcome and it was more geared to collecting shit rather than having fun platforming. That said the music and visuals remain the absolute best.
Maybe I ought to replay it again without playing the other games before to see if I enjoy it more again.
>>12005092 >SNES has the greatest library of all time, never beaten.
PlayStation, PS2, Saturn, NES, Mega Drive, probably others. SNES isn't even the best 16-bit library, much less the "greatest of all time".
>>12005129 >PS1
early 3d jank. crash is a fucking piece of shit. >PS2
not familiar enough with this one >Saturn
this is a joke >NES
love me NES but it has a higher ratio of garbage >MD
absolute joke console, I cannot think of a single game in this library I would want to play. even the saturn is better.
>>12005170 >higher ratio of garbage
Really funny thing to say in an attempt to defend the SNES, the system with the highest garbage-to-quality ratio of all time. How many actually good SNES games are there? A dozen at the most?
Anyways the entire rest of this post demonstrates you know nothing about any of those consoles. Imagine unironically being unable to think of a single Mega Drive game worth playing. Totally pathetic, exactly what I've come to expect from SNES drones.

divorced parents? poor? both? I really wanted to like the mega drive but I'm neither of those things so unfortunately there is not a single game in the library (that isn't a port) that is enjoyable to me.

only manchildren who are eating tendies in their moms basement get this upset because of some strangers video game opinions. You gonna cry and piss and shit yourself next? This board has to be one of the easiest to troll on this website lol you boomers really should get your priorities straight before you lose the last bit of respect you still have. The answer is clearly PS2 but its really not that deep lol
This is one of those games that in returning to is a lot weaker than you thought it was. I might even like Story more.
Definitely one of those games that's a great kids' game, that you will get less and less out of over time, as opposed to something like the DKC trilogy, which really just gets better.
>>12005248 >This board has to be one of the easiest to troll on this website lol you boomers
By saying that at all, you are genuflecting to older people. There is no need to be so threatened by older people that you have to put them in your place with bratty trickery. Grow up.
>>12005673 >your
their, rather. See how stupid we are? Quit putting old people on a pedestal just so you can tear them down from it. We are all stupid together. Talk about games if you want, though.

This board consistently says that Yoshi's Island is good but overrated, that it's garbage altogether, and that it's a masterpiece. How can you be unable to trust the board after playing it? Did you... find that all three of those claims were completely wrong? If so, how???
>>12004709 (OP)
It's a charming little game but it's fucking annoying and unfun to 100% it. I think that's where the main disconnect comes from. >>12004726 >>12004734 >>12004752
This board really is just filled with retards now
