This is probably true but since it is the start of the game it doesnt feel too bad because you are just starting to do battles and level. The part that usually irritates me the most is the path from twoson to happy happy village. The backtracking on top of tough enemies that afflict status effects on Ness and one shot attacks from exploding trees.

Most people will agree that the areas around Twoson seem "really hard" according to their memories. But, without thinking why, that's generally because they instantly pair their memories of "hard Earthbound fights" to "randomly re-assigned direction controls because of that FUCKING MUSHROOM," and relent their time there.

No. The two Giygases are completely different characters with different origins and no continuity between them. There's simply no turn of events where M1 Giygas magically turns himself into M2 Giygas out of nowhere.

Meanwhile in Mother 3 there's perfect continuity and the villain is exactly where he was left off in the previous game.

Her pen name is Saori Kumi, and yes, the novels are fucking weird. For what I can remember...

For MOTHER 1...
>She made Ninten a blond asshole kid named Ken
>Ken calls Ana hot in a sleeping gown
>Lloyd's dad is now Dr. Distorto
>she replaced Teddy with a 40 something ginger biker fucker named Hurricane Joe with what is basically a twink sidekick named Sharp
>the ending sentence is ambiguous but the worst reading implies she may be pregnant (this is after some weird cave shit where Ken and Ana get hypnotized by cave water, enter a psychic love bubble, and after all that is done, they stop arguing)
>Ken somehow whips out a grenade during the final battle

MOTHER 2 has
>Porky being pregnant with Giygas (who is not the M1 antagonist, but an unrelated fuck), and this results in Porky getting fatter and grosser, and the final battle is basically the party vs the Porky flesh dimension)
>Aloysius Minch is basically Plankton from SpongeBob, who bought Ness's dad's restaurant chain named Ness Burger and keeps trying to figure out the secret recipe (he dies in Deep Darkness counting leaves like money)
>Ness's mom is described as having a massive set of boobs (and at points, Ness may have a thing for her? My memory of these books are a bit hazy, forgive me)
>Jeff is handicapped because he got his legs crushed in an incident from his past that also killed his brother (he gets prosthetic legs from his dad)
>Paula gets drunk on hotel wine, Jeff tries to wrestle the bottle away from her, and Ness walks in, sees this, and thinks that Jeff and Paula are screwing while running away
>Ness gets hit on by an adult gay man in Summers
>Poo gets married off to a 7-year old little girl, and everybody is like, fine with it
I'm missing a bunch of shit because my memory is ass, but there's a fucking taste of the weirdness you can find in the Saori Kumi novels

I just realised these old school rpgs are really much longer than more modern games, 60/70 hours is standard for them.

I'm playing through Mother 2 again right now and I noticed the game gives you one extra option to manage your inventory, you can call an NPC and they will buy items from you. That alone eliminates any issue people may have with the inventory (which btw, is fine because it discourages item hoarding, a common RPG player problem).
Also reminder that another problem people have, which is the menu speed, is not an issue on original Mother 2 in japanese.

>If you accidentally sold the Casey Bat in EarthBound, you can obtain another one by revisiting the location where it is first acquired. The Casey Bat is found as a random drop from the Master Barf boss fight.
You can attempt to re-fight Master Barf to receive another Casey Bat. However, be aware that the bat has a very low accuracy, hitting only 25% of the time, making it extremely difficult to use in combat.
It is primarily considered an Easter egg referencing the poem "Casey at the Bat" and is only recommended for specific situations, such as farming for the Sword of Kings.
