I applied the english patch, but whenever the protagonist speaks i only see an empty textbox, but i can see text whenever a different charachter is speaking, any idea what i did wrong? i have a feeling its something to do with the charachter name selection

nvm im dumb, fixed it

the games graphics look all messed up on my pc, when i disable the graphics card setting in the main menu. but if i dont disable it, the game crashes as soon as i talk to the first girl.
anyone know how to fix it?

Wordsworth windows 95 version really cleaned up the visuals with Rin Sin character designs. PC98 version was very crude and full of "quality" moments.

Also i nthe PC98 version the catgirl was a Lum ripoff, just some girl i na tiger stripe bikini. Nina in win95 remake became more like a slightly furry felicia type catgirl.

Its virtually a scene-for-scene remake. both games have all their CGs dumped on sadpanda and you can compare them scene-by-scene. The girl playing with mushrooms, the catgirl being grabbed by the adventurer, the sneaking under the table to see the catgirls panties, and the sex scenes themselves.

As for the sex scenes themselves, the original only showed nipples, it was extremely censored and tame in those early pc98 days.

mmm...I'll have to investigate in more detail I guess. Unlike Doukyuusei where I played DOS and Windows, I only played the Windows version of Words Worth. But it sure felt like it had been given the Doukyuusei treatment.

It's not so much about the visuals but rather the text, where the scene just fades out or stops instead of playing out

Most of the /vr/ Japanese PC games I can think of off the top of my head are visual novels, which I don't really consider games.

The Arsys games and Touhou are both good, and those are some of the most high profile games on the PC88/PC98 respectively.

PC98 also had tons of ports of dos games that are well known in the west, usually running at a higher resolution than the dos version.

It's almost spooky month and I recommend playing Peret em Heru: For the Prisoners. It's a short horror RPG from 1998. Here's an english translation that bundles the game with an emulator and is ready to play.
