Any other anons enjoy the PS game brave fencer musashi? Kino. Very early PS polygon graffics, a Zelda esque feel of action adventure mixed with platforming.
Anonymous No.12012487 [Report]
my friend with really strict but really rich parents owned this. I played it briefly, but we were only allowed to play for like an hour and then had to go outside on his like 40 acres with a pond and inground pool so it didn't feel like much of a loss. Seemed like a cool game though

>be Miyamoto Musashi, AKA le Japanese sword saint
>"I amu samuraiu... I fightu wit honoru..."
>some guy challenges you to a duel
>know he's a better swordsman
>show up to the duel hours late on purpose because you know the direction you'll be facing him when you arrive, and you know the sun will be in his eyes so he won't be able to see shit
>kill him
>"Heh... I wasu superior swordmanu..."
>could've just fucking killed him in his sleep or some shit since you were going to be a faggot about it anyway, completely invalidating the point of being muh honorabru samuraiu
>350 years later some nip fags refuse to shut the fuck up about you and make games and anime about your greasy efforts
>one such game is "Brave Fencer Musashi"
>the character is based on the least brave samurai ever, who was basically just a retarded douche
>le celebrated herro...
Two nukes was not enough.

This game is pretty weird. The sleeping mechanic feels random. More importantly though, why has nobody made an undub of this game? The eng dub isn't the worst from the era by a longshot but it still makes my ears bleed.

saving the musicians and having the actual music change in the castle was kino.

I love it but this faggot tasteless board is kinda against it for whatever reason. The mechanics are great, the vibrate world is amazing but what I love about it the most is Musashi’s rude behavior and humor.

Threads of Fate is my preferred underrated Squaresoft action RPG though.

I agree. I played it for the first time ever about 10 years ago and was absolutely blown away bit it. I think if I had played it as a kid it would've easily been one of my favorite games of all time. The town felt really lively and the day/night cycle helped make it feel even more atmospheric.

I was very disappointed by Threads of Fate by comparison, but it's hard to say exactly why. I think the lack of voice acting may have made the game feel a lot more hollow to me than it would have otherwise. Not to mention the gameplay was as barebones as it gets-- the game was clearly designed for children right down to the combat and platforming.

This game was so good my brother went out of his way to farm up cash when we were kids to buy a spare copy on ebay when ours got scratched up.
It's like perfect time-capsule kino. It shares a lot of the Americanized tropes in anime back then that stemmed from localization (or lack of it) and the voice acting was hammy, which worked perfectly for how comedic the game was.
I used to replay the first few hours often as a kid but it's honestly just too fucking good and was surprising at how lively the world felt because of the day/night cycle like anons said. Trying all the locked houses at night or sleeping and waiting around to see who would answer as a kid was a treat, and every power having its own little illustration was mega cozy.
All my niggas always be buying milk and waiting days at a time, too.
I think this is probably going onto my pile for the upcoming winter, next to an mgs2 replay and a completion of the ffxii remake.

Was disappointed. Seems like it should be good but it isn't.
>weird hodgepodge of mechanics
>nothing feels substantial
>puzzles are bad
>abilities are bad
>platforming is REALLY bad

I did.

Didn't enjoy the sequel however (Its mid 00s tryhard edgy anime designs for tweens were a big turn off for me. Add to that its overall worse quality than the original and that was a wrap).

I miss that nigga like you wouldn't believe. When I think of the N64 I think of Goemon's Great Adventure or Mischief Makers before any other games.
Hard to believe the series has been dead for twenty years as of June.

Great game outside of its insanely rushed final segment. You can legit feel when the studio was being rushed to finish. Also, the difficulty leap towards the end is pretty funny. All in all, I still liked it a lot and am really glad I beat it all these years later.

Otherwise a pretty fun game, but way more janky than I remembered from my teen years.
