the *amount* of added time in remake managing inventory is nuts, because there are double the amount of puzzle items while the inventory slots for chris and jill are the same as the original. you are constantly running back and forth.

there are many more cases in remake where you have to squeeze through an area and killing is unavoidable. and i’m not talking about kerosene for burning zombies, i get that’s optional. the main issue with inventory is the extra puzzle items, not the means of dispatching zombies. in the original game you have a lot more leeway and ability to move forward in progress without constantly needing to go back and forth. there’s really no reason at all other than artificially elongating the experience for there to be as many extra puzzle items when the outcomes are the same. it’s shit design.

re 1-3 don’t have that problem, they keep it moving much better. remake taxes you and wrecks the flow of the game. don’t try to fucking tell me i should be cool with this because that’s how re games just are, because yeah they all have the item management but not to the retarded degree that remake does that adds way too much time and sucks the fun out.

1. Nadir of the RE series where the formula was seen as stale and repetitive.
2. Remake of a game only 6 years old and was seen as needless.
3. Released on the LameCube only (biggest mistake).

Xbox and PS2 releases would have given it 3 million more sales making it more financially successful.

this is not an argument. i was alive in my 20s and played it and read the reviews, it was not given a perfect score by any magazine i had. mostly it was viewed as too little too late abnd time to reconsider the tank controls. it wasgiven great praise for graphics and sfx. it was not hailed as a classic. methinkd you two, or one samefag, are full of shit.

it isn’t entirely inaccurate, the game got the rare 10/10 review in game informer and a bunch of 10’s or 9’s from others. it was very well-received. nobody ever said ‘classic re’ back then, obviously. i remember some friends who didn’t beat it because they weren’t prepared for how much longer it gets. but i had more friends who returned remake to electronic boutique because they felt like it wasn’t innovating enough and kind of felt ripped off. 2 was the only one in those days that mostly everybody said was perfect

>how did they screw this up so badly?

- No female zombies.

- Not avaible anymore the cheat of getting more bullets like in the director cut version.

- Not avaible anymore the infinite magnum bullets if you beat the game in hard mode like in the director cut version.

- The drama of lisa trevor.

- Is still unsolved why if you play as chris barry never returns and if you play as jill rebecca never appears. They could have done a new ending where chris, jill, barry and rebecca they all escape along in the helicopter, but they missed the chance of creating that new ending.

the canon ending or best ending would be if all characters are on the helicopter. they didn’t fix that in the remake. you see one or the other surviving character per who you play as. it’s the same as the original game. so there still is no ‘canon ending’

>it’s really stupid that they couldn’t manage that when the playstation game did.

The idea is they had the chance to fix that in the remake, the remake was their chance to put a canon ending where all the main characters survive, but they missed their chance of putting that ending. Either barry dies before entering the mansion(if you play as chris) or rebecca never existed(if you play as jill).

i played the xbox 1 version of this a few years back, is this the same as the gamecube version posted in the OP???

anyway i was excited to try it i remember how hyped up this "remake" was when it came out. i even remember seeing it at hollywood video and blockbuster to rent but being too afraid to get it. (i was young at the time)

so esentially i had years of high hopes before finally playing it and it was dogshit. i dont know if i will ever play it again a second time, it was ridiculously tedious. i played as chris and i remember every 5 minutes there was a new puzzle or something and i felt more like i was playing a puzzle game than a zombie game. pacing was completely off. i may or may not play it a second time as jill before throwing the disc in the trash. i have never played the original ps1 version so im more interested in playing that than playing the remake again as jill. i suspect its a better experience with more inventory with all the retarded shit you need to bring with you.

the game had a few good moments i wont lie but there are way too many flaws for me to suggest this to anyone and honestly im surpised it got through playtesting in the state it shipped in. its just tedious for the sake of being tedious and wasting your time.

They call THIS the king of the jungle? What were they THINKING!? When I imagined the shark encounter in the original, I expected something similar but maybe a little goofy yet still intimidating/scary -- but this is a fucking joke. The REmake shark encounter is so much fucking better, particularly the rotunda like design of the area. Anyone who says RE1 > Remake is a contrarian, flatout.
